What travellers are saying
- Jay FNew York City, NY1 contributionA must see for tourists and aviation enthusiasts of all ages! Located on the historical grounds of Mitchel Air Force Base, the museum is relatively close to the borough of Manhattan in New York City, a little less than an hour drive considering light traffic and not far from Nassau County, Long Island. This institution also inspires the minds of plenty with the marvel of past and modern aeronautics, including not only space and military air travel, but commercial flight as well. Don't forget to look up at the Blue Angels US Navy Aircraft on display, easily visible from the lobby of the museum. The repository incorporates a mezzanine exhibiting Pan Am commercial flights of 1927 and onwards, and fun fact -- who knew, Pan Am may just make a return for 2025 soaring the skies once again! Admission prices are listed on the museum website (The IMAX theater and additional exhibits such as the planetarium may come at an extra price). Lastly, there is a store/gift shop offering products such as t-shirts, dog tags, freeze dried ice cream and more. As always, for any trip or outing, make sure to plan accordingly. Cradle of Aviation is ranked top one on Tripadvisor for things to do in Garden City, Long Island. - JackOld Bethpage, NY3,388 contributionsRoosevelt Field is a nice mall with tons of stores, a movie theatre, and a food court. It’s a very large mall so finding your way around it maybe tricky, but it is worth the visit. I recommend coming here.Written 1 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tobine293019 contributionsPositive - fantastic , educational space for both young and older children. I absolutely recommend it but im writing this in hopes a manager reads to correct issues with TOT SPOT. There needs to be a better system!!! They stop for cleaning for 15 min frequently which I understand but woman cleaning with sprayer was so rude. There was a line of people waiting with young children , lady in front of me said they kept telling her 5 minutes and it was 30! This cant happen when people are there just for an afternoon. The sign says 25 people but it was much less than that. They had no system of who they were letting in and out , therefore making certain people get more time and others less etc. Mess ! Please fix and speak to your staff.Written 17 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Betsy BLake George33 contributionsThis is a beautiful, historical cathedral. The village of Garden City was built by Alexander Stewart The village was built around the cathedral, a hotel, 2 cathedral schools (now both closed), 12 large apostle houses and a number of smaller disciple houses He built the railroad line to go from his home in New York City to his new village. After he died, his wife Cornelia finished his plan in his memory.Written 9 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alex SElmhurst, IL70 contributionsThe Pan Am museum is the third floor gallery of the Cradle of Aviation museum and a single admission covers both. On the day I visited a special exhibit about the Boeing 314 seaplanes used between 1939 and 1945 took up the majority of the floor space. A highlight was a cutaway model of the plane first displayed at the 1939 World's Fair. Other exhibits focused on the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser, the 707 and 747, and the airline's role in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. There were no docents at the time of my visit, although a guided tour of the Cradle of Aviation was starting as I left. There are no seats in the Pan Am area if you need a rest. Airline fans may also enjoy a Boeing 707 cockpit on the first floor, donated by El Al.
I had planned a full day here but will be looking for something else after lunch.Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
