Purchase your pass online in advance of your visit. Try to time your arrival with a ranger stroll at the visitor center and you will get a good overview of the area. There are many places to park along the scenic loop with multiple hiking options.

A must-see when in the area. Really interesting history and great views. There is not much in the way of facilities around so make sure you pack water and snacks before you head there. You can cross the border between Arizona and Nevada and also at the right time of the year you cross time zones.

In less than 1 hour from the strip, you can be in 8000 ft elevation playing in the snow. This is worth the drive just to get away to nature. There is a nice loop that is probably about 30 minutes through the mountains.

I don’t know why this isn’t listed as a top activity in Las Vegas. It is very well run, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and all seem to really enjoy being there. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. I learned so much while having a great time. Fabulous for kids as they learn through fun activities as well. If you are a local I definitely recommend the memberships as they are very reasonable. I recommend a hat and sunscreen.

A variety of fish, good 'flow' to the exhibits, informative staff and great photo opportunities. Worth a stop, very family friendly.

We didn't do a tour and I don't think one is needed to view

Had a blast in this area! Flamingos are my favorite animal because I always joke with my family and friends that flamingos mean vacation! 😁 Enjoyed seeing the different birds and animals. I have read though that there used to be way more animals during its “hey day”, and I do agree there’s some areas that felt a little bare and empty, but still a very peaceful, beautiful area with some cool birds!

My oldest granddaughter & I love to hike with our pups; this trail is more of a long walk than a hike, but is well worth it. The trail is very well maintained and, leaving from the Lake Mead trailhead, is only a slight incline. As usual, we took our husky's and noticed several other people brought theirs as well. This is a very popular trail and we crossed paths with many people, ranging from young families with children in strollers to elderly couples to people jogging and on bikes. The views and tunnels are amazing and there is a small rest area after the 5th tunnel where we stopped and had a nice picnic lunch.

When trail reports said it is a hard hike I didn't believe it.
It was definitely a challenging hike. You cannot get down and up without using ropes.
We did scrape ourselves up a bit on the rock so I would recommend wearing gloves, long sleeves and pants for the ropes. Hot springs were awesome.

Fun place to bring the kids. It takes about an hour to tour around and they also have many animal interactions that you can do with token purchases. It’s fun to feed the sting ray!!

Interesting large salt water tank. They have in decorated for the season, not sure how the fish feel about that. Worth seeing if you are in the area.

My wife and I did this hike several years ago, but this time we brought our 3 small dogs and 2 children, age 3 and 17. It was harder than I remember on the way up, but we just took our time and took breaks whenever the kids or dogs needed it and made it up just fine. That would be my #1 recommendation - take your time & go at your own pace!

    What to bring:

FLUIDS: We each brought a 32 oz. Hydroflask full of water, plus a few Gatorades to share. I think just the 32 oz of water would not be enough on its own, especially during the summer months.

FOOD: We brought a few protein bars which was plenty. However, there is plenty of room to set up a little picnic up at the falls and have sandwich or fruit or something fun.

CLOTHING: My son and I wore our Salomon hiking boots while my daughter and wife wore Hoka running shoes - they held up decently, but I would recommend hiking boots/shoes of some kind as the path has loose rocks in spots and the additional support would be helpful. Also if you plan on going under the waterfall or getting wet at all, be aware that hiking back down the trail in wet shoes/socks won't be fun, so plan accordingly. We went in July so I was fine in a T-Shirt and shorts, but you might want a long-sleeve in the fall/winter months.

OVERALL: The view from the falls is fantastic and the water was cool and refreshing to splash on our faces after a challenging hike through switchbacks up the mountain. Our 3-year old is a trooper and there were some other young kids on this hike, but it is not the easiest hike for youngins with its uphill climb and loose rocks along the way. However if you go at your own pace and grab a few snacks along the way, you'll have a great time! The trail is very dog-friendly - we saw dogs of all shapes and sizes along the trail - ours are smaller dogs and we carried them for a few of the more difficult sections of the trail but other than that they did the entire trail and had a great time!

Went for a 5km morning run. Fantastic place to get away from the bustling city. I recommend this place to go for a walk or run. There were runners, walkers, people of all ages and a nice playground area for children. Also a great place for them to experience nature and wildlife. Regarding a recent review about suspicious men...this has nothing to do with the park itself and could happen anywhere. Also why didn't she call the police if it was that bad. I suspect great exaggeration.

Terrific hike offering beautiful desert scenery and the vivid colors of Red Rock Canyon. This hike takes effort, but the rewards are great. Moderately strenuous with some rock scrambling in parts. You need good hiking shoes and make sure to have a hat and water. The trail is not easy to follow at time and you would benefit from having a downloaded map on an App like AllTrails. I would also avoid hiking here after it has rained as the rocks would be slippery and treacherous. At the end of the trail before turning around, you will find a panoramic view of the valley and Vegas in the distance. However, it is tricky to reach this viewpoint as the trail really disappears and you need to negotiate some narrow paths with a drop off. Not for the faint hearted.

A great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Reminded me of some pond areas in Northern California. This was the best time to go right before it starts heating up, late April early May. My wife and I went for a brisk walk around the area which is well paved and a number of ways to map your hike. A few undulating pathway roads with plenty of waterfowl, bird watching, and a peacock with an alarming cry. It costs $6 to park as there are a number of historical buildings with site markers that explain them. There are a couple different parking areas so ask the attendant which way to go if you’re looking for a closer area to the lake or buildings. We got in free on Sunday before 2pm since there was a Farmers Market on that day. You can also reserve specific areas for BBQ’s, picnics, and there were a lot of people fishing in the lake as well. I heard it was well stocked. A nice place to visit. Check it out. Highly recommended!
