Wonderful afternoon, great selection of food samples, and a well-planned and well-paced balance of walking, standing, and sitting. - MVFAdventureHolland, MI4 contributionsEvery year my son and I commemorate Mother's Day with an outdoor activity - usually a hike in nature. We have done this every year (my son is now 18). This year we did something different. We took a 12 mile kayak paddle on the Kalamazoo River with Kayak Kayak. From the first phone call I placed for information, Skip was very friendly and generous with his time, knowledge and welcome. He made sure that the trip we were considering would be a good match for our interest/activity level/experience and gave us the details on what to expect. We had a blast. Our trip took us through the Allegan Forest. No cars, no buildings...just birdsong, trees, and a comfortably wide slowly moving current. We drifted under a pair of adult bald eagles that looked us in the eye as well as what we later learned were the juvenile offspring. We saw many yellow warblers, belted kingfishers and wood ducks. About half way through we got out on one of the many easy to access banks, threw down a beach towel and had a picnic lunch. It was early in the season so a bit chilly, but we were dressed in layers/hat and stayed warm. We passed only 5 people (fishermen) during our paddle which only added to the "Lewis and Clark" feel. The kayaks performed well, had very comfortable seats, plenty of storage (the back hold fit my backpack), and were dry and clean. Skip was waiting for us on our return and took pics as my son and I made a final laughing sprint to the take-out beach. - Ellen B2 contributionsIt’s very clear that Captains Pat (more experienced) and Peter (newly captained) are both very knowledgeable about sailing and the area. While they’ve been competing against each other in this season’s races, there was good camaraderie on our trip.
The weather didn’t cooperate for lots of sailing on Lake Michigan, but they certainly did what they could, kept us informed, and gave us options.
Our 8 yo and 13 yo enjoyed the trip as much as we did. Both captains included all passengers in the sailing experience to the extent that they wanted. The car was beautiful, and the guide was wonderful. It's not every day that you ride around in a 1930 Woodie. We have a little guy who’s almost 2 and a daughter who is almost 8 and they both LOVED every minute! From the trolling to catching fish(very successful)we will definitely do this again! - leedstravel1994Linden, MI115 contributionsMy husband and I were visiting the area yesterday - 7/23/2022 and needed to have a tired on my husband's bike replaced (we were visiting the area for a wedding and doing some biking over the weekend). Paul waited on us and WOW was he helpful. He helped my husband pick out the correct size and style of tires and even was able to have the new tires and a tube replaced that day on his bike. What a great asset to Velo City Cycle Paul is - never had such great service at a bike shop! - Robin PHolland, MI82 contributionsThis is something I have always wanted to do and the experience did not disappoint. 3 of us went for my daughter's birthday. The guys who took us on our tandem jump were experienced (over 2500 jumps) and fun. They hyped us up without making us too nervous. Their instructions were simple and the demonstration of all the safety checks and redundancies were reassuring. The plane ride to 10,000 feet gave us a beautiful view of the Lake Michigan shoreline. I even spotted my house on the way down. We also purchased the video evidence. Watching/showing the videos after only increases my fondness of the memory. - Chris GSandusky, OH44 contributionsWe had a great fishing trip. Tyler was our captain and did a really good job taking care of us. We caught 7 lake trout and 4 kings. A 5 star experience. The issue I have is with the billing. These guys were already $50 more than the boat that docks across from them. I was okay with that because they seemed to have really good ratings and the other guys isn't so good at returning calls. After I checked out I realized I paid a $50 gas surcharge. They didn't have any mention of this when I booked two months earlier (and gas prices were higher). The owner Devin told me they didn't have it on their rates page but it shows up when you book. I went through the booking again that day and it wasn't coming up.
