Wilkommen! You won’t believe this Bavarian town in Michigan. Excellent sites, a river tour, wunderbar food. We thoroughly loved the shops with souvenirs. Make sure you stop at this family friendly resort town. You’re sure to make memories!

The hot chocolate was not the typical 8oz cup. It was similar to an espresso but loaded with an unbelievable flavor! If you are a hot chocolate connoisseur stopping here is a must!

Cute store with Michigan themed items that is open all year round. As for the outside Farmers market, it's open Wednesdays and Saturdays in the summer and has many fruits, veggies, normal farm market items. The donuts from Butter crust bakery are fantastic! It annoys me that someone gave it two stars because they went in December and only the store was open. Ummm.... There's no outdoor farmers market in Michigan where you're going to pick up fresh corn in December! People are weird. Prices are a bit more expensive than you'd find at a roadside stand, but not terrible.

This store helps keep the Christmas season bright and spread joy, all year through. Your decorating needs are covered here; ornaments, special unique custom gifts, collectables, trees, indoor/outdoor items and so much more. You really have to see it for yourself. + I recently heard from them that 'every evening at dusk until midnight their ½-mile Christmas Lane is illuminated with over 100,000 lights' - sounds absolutely beautiful. Thanks!

We visited the store and bought several items including their cheese spread which is very good.
I also placed an online order. One of the items was out of stock so a replacement was given. I reached out via email because I really wanted the original item. Samantha was quick to reply and said she would watch for the item to return to stock and send to me hopefully after the first of the year. I received the item yesterday!
We will definitely visit again both in person and online. Thank you Samantha!

These 6 wonderful shops are located in the basement of the world famous Bavarian Inn Restaurant. There is a candy store, a toy store, a bakery, and gift shops--something for the entire family and a great place to find unique gifts for all ages.

I recommend you don't enter this establishment unless you have an hour to spare. We didn't get to explore half of the store because we wanted to allow plenty of time for seeing Bronner's, and we'd already spent more than an hour here at Rau's.

I can't begin to describe the variety of items for sale in this store. If you can dream it, they probably carry it. A couple of murals painted on the exterior wall to the left of the main entrance give visitors a glimpse into its history. One reads that it specializes in the sale of "imported spices, candy (including old-style penny candy), jams, fancy groceries . . ." Add another thousand grocery and souvenir products to that list and you might begin to paint an accurate picture. Scented candles, jigsaw puzzles, rooms full of antique signs, gourmet coffees and teas, specialty lighting, wooden carved art, jewelry, adult and children's clothing, Coca cola and Harley Davidson collectibles, table linens and doilies, home decor, refrigerator magnets and keychains and postcards - and on and on.

I was delighted to find several varieties of non-GMO gourmet popcorn - and at ridiculously reasonable prices. The selection of gourmet chocolates and candies makes it almost impossible to leave the store without purchasing. I used restraint and bought one container of malted milk balls (probably because I'd already spent $60 at another gourmet chocolate shop a few days prior). My friend bought black licorice at Rau's.

The store's history is interesting. Oscar Rau and his wife Evelyn established Rau's Country Store in 1964 in the building which was originally the Hotel Goetz (since 1902). Then in 1972, Oscar sold to William Rau and his wife Lillie, who expanded the building to double its size in 1981. The store is three stories now, including the basement. They operated it until they retired in 2004.

The store is open from 11:00-6:00 most days, with slightly extended hours on weekends. I just discovered that Rau's has a website where you can shop for most of their products online and have them delivered to your house. Good to know for when I run out of gourmet popcorn. There's a huge parking lot where you can park all day behind the store (free parking). Next visit to Frankenmuth, exploring the other half of Rau's Country Store is on my bucket list.

This place is fantastic. You are able to taste many products, which makes is easier to purchase items you want. I tasted everything and it was amazing. The dark chocolate covered cherries were my favorite. Also the Cherry salsa is a must. They are very friendly and helpful. Would make a trip just to go here.

I dropped some venison off at Willie’s and Keith made outstanding breakfast sausage, burger, and summer sausage. Their friendly staff and customer service is next to none. The owners, Keith and Jackie, work hard to take care of customers. Please stop in, you won’t be disappointed! Best Sausage in Michigan!

We were going to be in Frankenmuth for a couple days and in my research I found a coupon for a 7 -1/2 German clock for $19.99 regular price $65.00 that plays 12 different Christmas songs and also chimes and I wanted to buy for my sister in law as she's German. They do have some very nice clocks but the price is also nice and expensive. They do have smaller clocks that are reasonably priced. Very nice people who worked there, but wow it's loud with all the different clocks chiming at different times but I guess you get used to it.

You can enjoy their roasted chicken upstairs but in the lower level is where you find the best stuff in my opinion. Love the chicken noodle soups and their salad is rather good also. One of the best options to eat in Frankenmuth.
