The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is a wonderful hike-bike trail that begins south of the Dune Hike parking lot and stretches north past the the Great Lakes Boat Museum to the edge of the park.

Empire Bluff Trail

We did this hike before doing the Sleeping Bear scenic drive; in fact, the ranger at the visitor's center advised us of this trail, so it's obviously as good or better than any in the park.
Great trail in this park.
Pyramid Point Trail

You can park at the first lot off Point Oneida Rd and head directly to Pyramid Point to a fantastic view of Lake Michigan, which is just over a half mile away through a lush forest.
My husband and I just returned from SBD National Park and this is one of three great hikes we enjoyed with our 9 & 11 year old kids.

Located at the end of the street in town, the park has playground equipment, access to Bar Lake, and a bit of beach along Lake Michigan.

The beach is far less busy with people than others in the park (we saw only 2 other families).
