Excellent walking paths. Nice view. Dogs are allowed and you can also mountain bike in the area. Down a long dirt road to get to the area which we parked and “hiked” from but as we were walking the various paths we noted there were other ways to arrive. Tick spray is a must. On the top of the “BIG” hill there is a place to sit and take in the views.

So, I was reluctant to give this the highest rating because of the lack of access to this magical place in-season; but I looked at it from the other side. If I were a local resident, I wouldn't want to have this beach overflowing with tourists in the summer either. The beach is otherworldly, looking as though you've been transported to Cabo San Lucas or other Mexican pacific beaches, with the weather carving magnificent formations along the cliffs. However, non-locals can enjoy this beautiful location in the Spring - June 1st, and again after Labor Day. A true diamond in the rough.

Last week we visiting The Grey Barn for a private group tour which culminated in a cheese tasting of some of Grey Barn's finest selections. We had the privilege of having our tour hosted by Joe the Master Cheesemaker. First we enjoyed a leisurely tour of the farm including feeding the pigs, including our kids' personal favorite "Shovel Mouth." After roughly an hour tour of the grounds, we arrived at a beautiful outdoor table setting of cheeses for our tasting courtesy of Josie (Tasting Manager) and her team. As recommended, we brought our own selection of wines to enjoy with the cheese (it is BYOB) . Joe and Josie walked us through each of the cheeses and also let us sit leisurely on our own to enjoy the collection of cheeses, charcuterie, breads, crackers and Jams. We took the 2.5 hour private tour which included 6 different cheese selections. We had 7 people and could not finish all of the generous portions they provided. We have been coming to Martha's Vineyard for 20 years and after buying bread and pastries at the farmstand these past couple of years, we were thrilled to take the tour with Joe and Josie. If you have not been we highly recommend a private tour!

Nice little beach. We could not go on the beach as we were with a dog. Dog are allowed on the trail just not the beach. There is a nice look out prior to arriving at the beach. We had a hard time finding the road in (the road is next to the Chilmark fire station). There is not a lot of parking stops and it is pretty much a one car dirt road. Do not forget your tick spray. Walk to beach from parking lot is about a 1/2 mile.

Our goal for our vacation was to explore as many of the Land Bank areas up island as we possibly could and we finished with Waskosim's Rock Reservation. The hiking was not difficult at all, especially since it is inland. There are approximately three miles of trails on 185 acres of preserve. You can hike through woodland areas and open fields and along the way there are old stone walls. This area is great for nature walks, mountain biking and picnic. Dogs on leases are allowed. The highlight is Waskosim's rock and huge boulder with a big crack, which was historically of note as it marked the division between English land and the land of Native Americans. As with the other Preserves and reservations we hiked, this one was no busy either, even though it was August.

Peaked Hill reservation is a little difficult to find but well worth it for the hiking and biking trails. It is located at the summit of the Island, 311 feet above sea level, on about 150 acres. To get there, you take Middle Road to Tabor House Road and then look for Pasture road on the left (it is marked). Bear to the right, past the farm, and then look for the Land Trust sign on your right and turn into the parking area. The lot is small but there was only one other car there when we arrived. There are plenty of very nice hiking trails, some of which lead to areas where there are nice views. We made it a point to hike as many of these areas in Chilmark as possible and this was an enjoyable one to visit.

I walk or jog here almost daily in August with family, friends and dogs. There are beautiful clear streams and well-kept boardwalks.
    Thank you Land Bank!

I guess Sept. is off season as we found many farms closed to the public - or maybe they just had enough business all summer.

Squibnocket Beach, or "Squibby", is one of the beautiful private beaches in Chilmark. If you are going, however, be sure to check the tide schedule, since at high tide most of the shoreline is underwater. You can schlep your stuff through the shallow water to the right of the beach entrance for higher ground. If you do, you'll likely be one of the only ones there, so you'll have the place virtually to yourself. If low tide is happening at peak beach time, you're in luck. It's a good boogie boarding spot for the kids.

This place was an absolute treasure. The chocolate was phenomenal, totally underrated, and very reasonably priced. We had no idea, so we waited in line for a while, and once we got in we just put together one box and left. Once we got back to our hotel and started trying the chocolate, we lamented that we didn't buy 3 more boxes! I am sure this place will be missed - we would have loved to have gone back.

The Yard supports creative and outstanding dance and choreographers in a rustic setting in the town of Chilmark, which happens to be a rural community on the Island of Martha's Vineyard. We have the opportunity to witness new and evolving works by world class artists. If you have an opportunity, go.

If you want your wife to enjoy fishing this is the boat and caption you want. wife landed all of the fish. I got to relax and enjoy the show. Johnathan handled everything. when we got back he filleted one of our fish so we could enjoy the freshest sushi you could ever have right there on the dock. Look for the boat "Mary Sea"

I used The Kitchen Porch to cater a clambake for my birthday party of 18 guests, and they were great! The food was delicious and plentiful (clam chowder, clams, mussels, lobster, melted butter, linguica sausage, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes, blueberry crumble/cobbler and ice cream), the server was great (she did food service and cleanup), and the owner was so helpful and flexible (two people didn't eat lobster, so Jan (the owner) provided steak and chicken). Also, the price was VERY reasonable considering how much you get. The place is so cute - the owner didn't even know about TripAdvisor, hence I'm the first reviewer. Highly recommend! Still can't believe how much food we got (and a server) for the price...
