I went on a beautiful summer day on a holiday weekend, so it was crowded. Having said that, I enjoyed having bath houses and restrooms, and plenty of nearby food and shopping options. The water isn't very warm in Maine, but the sun shines brightly and Short Sands is a good place to enjoy it. I think it'd be nice for families, with plenty of things nearby for the kiddos.

We had a great visit! They had so many types of animals. They have a SLOTH! The monkeys are adorable. The deer and goats were fun. It’s a nice little zoo. I was worried about going because of previous reviews. I’m glad I gave this place a chance. The butterfly garden was also very nice. They had so many different species of butterflies. We did not get to try the amusement park side. But I knew that when i decided on dates that the rides wouldn’t be running. Maybe next time. I’d definitely go back.

We rented out the York Brewery for our Rehearsal Dinner 9/21/23. It was the most amazing space and experience. Sarah Rowland was excellent to work throughout the year with - she was so professional, personal and flexible. The York Brewery staff was amazing and they were so great at helping us set up the venue to match our vision. I would HIGHLY recommend York Brewery for any event or just popping in for a drink! Thank you York Brewery for hosting our rehearsal dinner and making it even more amazing than we could have imagined it!

Sohier Park is situated on a small peninsula in the Cape Neddick section of York. It’s about 3 acres in size. Most of the park is on a small hill.

Admission to the park and parking area up on the hill are both free.

The park has a gift shop that the town calls a welcome center. It has restrooms with outside access. It is open daily 9:00 AM –7:00 PM from May to mid-October.

Near the gift shop there are two fog bells. One is marked with: U.S. Navy Yard - Portsmouth N.H.; the other is marked: USLHS for United States Light House Service – 1926.

Parking spaces comprise close to half the park.

There are places to walk around to get scenic views and take photos.

The highlight of a visit here is the fabulous bird’s eye view of Cape Neddick Light, a/k/a The Nubble or Nubble Light. Along with Portland Head Light, it is one of the most-photographed lighthouses in the world. It gets its nickname from the island it sits on: Nubble Island.

There is a small inlet that separates the island from the mainland; hence, one’s photos will not contain any unwanted subjects.

There are two times of the year when an after-dark visit is special – during York Days in July – also called Christmas in July - and again from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. The lighthouse outline is trimmed with illuminated white lights.

There are a number of park benches well-placed for great views of the lighthouse and the Long Sands Beach area in the distance.

One will also find numerous mature, well-established bushes of beach roses in several areas of the park. Although beach roses are regarded as a very invasive species, I think that they are so beautiful that they should be allowed to spread in certain areas. This is one of them.

The park, island, and lighthouse are al owned and maintained by the Town of York. They were acquired in several transactions – the last of which was the island, purchased from the United States Government in 1998. Mr. Sohier donated the park land closest to the overlook of the lighthouse.

The bonus to the visit is that Fox’s Lobster House is directly across the access roadway from the gift shop. It’s so close that one would think that it’s part of the park. And, one can see some of the lighthouse from the outside tables.

For what is lacks in size, it makes up for with its location and spectacular scenic views; therefore, I rate Sohier Park at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit.

The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews and some health issues.

Visiting Maine, I happened upon Tangibles Antiques.

The multi-dealer shop had many unusual and unique items as well as a few more commonly-found antiques. The items I saw dated from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

There were a lot of trunks, works of art, and furniture.

I particularly liked the set of two black leather upholstered chairs of Mid-Century Modern design.

There was an attention-getting tall wood sculpture from Ecuador and done in the style of Luis Potosi, a famous Ecuadorian Postwar & Contemporary Carved Wooden Sculpture artist. It would be just the thing to become a conversation piece in an entryway or living room.

As cat-fancier, I found a painting of a black and white cat to be a fun piece of art.

This is a great place to find high-quality antiques.

I rate my experience at Tangibles Antiques at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit.

Visited the area on 8/21/22 with my family. My wife uses a wheelchair so the first thing I looked for was an accessible way to get in. So the odd thing is, there is what looks like a fairly new deck that was built on the front of this property, but the only way to access it is via a set of stairs. On one side of the deck it's blocked off to what is basically a sidewalk that runs along the entire road where this is located, which has a ramped end so a chair is able to get up on to the walkway, but if you were to wheel all the way to the end, you'd end up with essentially a wall in your face. So we went around to the rear of the building and they had a small curb size lip to a "ramp".. I use the term ramp very loosely here and then a typical step up doorway threshold.

So if you're in a wheelchair by yourself, you will not be able to get in to this arcade. However, I am able to tip back and lift my wife's chair to get around these types of obstacles. Once inside, she was able to wheel around with no real issues. There did not appear to be any restrooms in the facility and if there were, they are almost definitely not wheelchair accessible / ADA compliant bathrooms.

I lost at least $2 worth of quarters across the myriad of games I deposited coins in to. I didn't bother bringing it to the attention of the guy behind the desk because he didn't seem overly thrilled to be working there honestly.

Overall though, my family and I love Skee Ball and had a good time in a retro / nostalgic kind of way since this is a very dated arcade.

They really do have some beautiful sterling silver jewelry, and a lot of it is nautically themed. Some items have precious stones or gold in the designs. A lot of their items are unique and creative, like flip-flop or lighthouse drop earrings. It wasn't the average type of store that I expected to see in the York Beach village. I thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality.

Skip the golden rod and walk a little further down here. We were welcomed as soon as we walked through the door, by a man behind the counter, he small talked weather and wished better weather on us for the rest of our trip. He gave our daughter a free lollipop, as well as other children who walked in after us. They have over 70 flavors of taffy on display, and noted they have peanutbutter but they are cognizant of allergies so they keep that one packaged not loose in the bins. There's other candy by the pound, chocolate truffles, dipped twinkies, devil dogs, brownies, and rice krispie treats as well as packaged new aged kid candy favorites. I feel confident to say there is everything you need here. The younger gentlemen behind the counter rallied together to put our order together quickly and with smiling faces and courtesy. This is a must stop if for nothing else, the smiling service you will certainly recieve!

Fantastic, Fun, Entertaining, Educational, but mostly FUN. Go do this, you won't regret it! The Mad Man is amazing...so talented, you won't forget this tour. Appropriate for kids too, there were a few in our group.
( I do believe its called Ghostly Tours with the MAD MAN of York).
Either way, Go do it. We had a BLAST!
