Wells Reserve at Laudholm offers various hiking trails in the most beautiful area. The buildings on the property are well kept and lovely. We enjoyed hiking the Barrier Beach Trail through wooded and marsh areas to the beach. The rocky beach has a little sand area. We loved the view as we walked along the coast.

This coast encounter was incredible! My husband and myself, along with our two teenage daughters, ages 15 and 13, greatly enjoyed this experience! Carol had great communication from the first time I emailed her, to giving us directions and a parking pass when we met at the beach, to sending photos to me she took with her phone to answering all of our questions thoroughly! Carol included all members of the group and learned our names immediately and showed us different critters in the water from snails to lobsters to crabs, explaining how to tell the difference between male and female crabs, and other really cool things! At the end, she recapped what we had seen and experienced over the last few hours together in the water. She even brought snacks and water for everyone on the excursion afterwards.

We are staying down in Perkins Cove Ogunquit area, and all the local charters were booked up for days, so we drove 20 min North to Wells. Captain Derek was awesome. My kids (14 & 12) are novices and still had a day they will not soon forget.

We booked a 2 hour “kids intro” charter, and we had so much fun that we wished we had booked more time. We started off with a short boat ride which the kids loved, then trolled for bait fish. The captain was open to our request to see his lobster traps - so we swung by my and pulled up a pot. Learned about lobsters, threw the small ones back and there was one keeper that my kids named “Josh”.

We then moved onto the fishing grounds with what little time we had left, but boy were they biting. The kids soon had 4 hits and hauled 3 aboard. Derek, my father in law and I spent so much time helping the kids land their fish that the adults did not even cast! But so much excitement.

One child caught a striped bass too small to keep, followed by one to big to keep, and had bragging rights to “largest fish” and “most fish”, while my 12 yo caught the keeper and provided us with dinner, aka “most tastiest fish”.

Derek was great and was open to our thoughts on itinerary, swing us by to see the seals basking on the rocks, etc.. posed for pics with the kids, helped them hold the lobster for photos, etc… All in all a great operator and a super fun trip.

One Note: the boat holds up to 6 passengers, but our group of 4 felt about right. If uncles had joined us - it would have been pretty tight.

Great day with captain Tom. I have fished all over the world with more than 30 different captains and have a fishing boat in Islamorada. Captain Tom is in the top 5! Great, safe boat. Knows what he is doing, willing to teach. A delight. His first mate and daughter Brooklyn was a wonderful addition to the charter. She helped my grand daughter fish, wonderful to see! 10/10 on all fronts!

Great time fishing! We caught lots of haddock, pollack, and even a cusk. Our biggest fish were Atlantic cod to bad we can't keep them. Overall best fishing trip in a while we even saw whales and sunfish.

We had a great morning with Mark. Started early and headed out in search of bait fish. Fishing was fun, though quiet on the fishing front so spent time pulling up Mark’s lobster cages as well. The kids (12 and 14) enjoyed the fishing but really took to the lobstering. I knew nothing about lobstering, so this was a neat experience for me too— helped me understand how much work lobstering is when you see how many have to go back to sea.
Mark was very friendly, easy going and the kids took to him quickly. He was patient with the kiddos and obviously enjoys what he is doing. It was a relaxing, fun trip, Certainly safe for those with kids. Recommended!

Went out as party of 4. Had a great time. Captain very knowledgeable and helpful. $300 for the trip worked out to only 75 bucks each...well worth the money. Fishing is done close in off-shore so time is spent fishing not traveling out and back. Highly recommend the Karen-Ann.
