While visiting Wells in January, we found so many places closed, but Spillers' Farm Store saved the day! After looking at a house with a realtor, I wanted pizza, and my wife wanted a lobster roll. Our first choices were both closed! We knew from Tripadvisor that Spillers' was open so we drove there, and it sure was. Not only did they have pizza (I bought all three slices that were readily available), but they had lobster rolls, too! Perfect, since we had to head to Portland to make our flight and didn't have time to drive around looking for lobster rolls. The store isn't huge, but there's a LOT in it. Meats, produce, a deli, pizza made on site, and the usual grocery items that you'd expect. The pizza slices themselves had been in the self-serve case for a bit, but they were still really good. My wife liked her lobster roll and chips. Friendly staff, talkative and engaging. I will not forget this place, and plan on visiting in the warmer months for berry and apple picking. Plenty of parking, credit cards accepted. Brisk traffic in and out even in Winter on MLK Day. It's nice that they are open daily year round when so many other places are closed.

Harding's has virtually everything, old and new. Many unique items which you will not find anywhere else. Allays fun to browse or find that item you have heard of somewhere. Careful organized.

Anytime Antiques is multi-dealer antiques shop with booths of varying sizes. Most of the ones I saw were small. I estimated that over 75 dealers displayed there. It's one of the largest shops I've visited.

In the first aisle of small booths, I found a woman who was putting out some items for her friend who leased the booth. He was out of the country. We chatted for awhile. She was very pleasant.

During my visit, I saw a wide variety of antique and vintage items that included glassware, housewares, decorative pieces, furniture, dolls, and all kinds of collectibles. I even saw a box about 18” x 5” that had the word muffler written on it. By the way the box was positioned half-behind other items, I couldn’t read the lettering on the two words before muffler. It was about the right size for a motorcycle muffler.

The dealers kept their spaces tidy. Things were organized.

Anytime Antiques is nice store. The only criticism for the store is that the lighting could be better. There were some areas where the light wasn't good.

I rate Anytime Antiques at 4.50 and can recommend a visit.

    R. Jorgensen has two floors and an additional back building of magnificent period antiques, most of which date back to the 19th Century and several to the 18th and 17th Centuries, and include American, French, English, Scandinavian, Chinese, and other continental pieces. It's like a museum. The owners are very welcoming, as are their two dogs, one of whom greeted me when I walked in (Julie, the French poodle). The items are expensive, of course -- this isn't your typical flea market down the street -- but they're finely crafted. It's a wonderful inventory and display in a beautiful historic building, whether you're buying or just browsing.

Noel’s Antiques was across from the Wells Union Antique Center.

He had some nice items in the most-desired categories of glass, china, furniture, and collectibles. He also had a lot of less-common items. The quality of many items was good.

There was a sign that said: Make an Offer. So, prices there were negotiable. I found the prices to be about average to start with.

The quality of many items was good. His wares weren't arranged neatly in sections in parts of the store. That detracted from the perception of quality

I was looking for a birdhouse as a souvenir— What a surprise once we were inside and then she said there was more upstairs…. So many beautiful items. Many crafters and some antiques. She said she currently houses 106 vendors there. Great concept.

My son and I were on our way to walk the dog at Wells Beach on this cold February day. We asked a clerk in Reny's where to get coffee and she pointed us to R&R. Not only did we get coffee and delicious cannolis at the cannoli bar, we went back after our beach walk for lunch. Two hearty sandwiches with fresh ingredients that we ate at a table in the back of the store. They have an amazing selection of chocolates, as well as the cannoli bar, the sandwiches, and courteous service. This is a hidden treasure for sure.

Heading down US-1, I came upon Weathervanes of Maine as I had so many times before. On this pass, I had time to stop.

There was a sizable outdoor display of garden sculptures, weathervanes, and cupolas with weathervanes.

I particularly liked the mermaid, chicken, and galloping horse weathervanes. The flying pig was quite whimsical. A copy of it belongs on the roof of the When Pigs Fly Bakery in Kittery, ME.

There were some yard wind-spinners and birdhouses as well as mailboxes.

Everything was high quality and very well made.

I rate Weathervanes of Maine at 5.0 and recommend a visit.

Great little place to stop and browse, best place in the area for picking up your Maine trinkets, toys, clothing, and souvenirs.
    Also, very reasonable prices!

Annie’s occupies a somewhat small space. Yet it has a great, varied selection of new and used books. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional. Anyone of any reading tastes will find a worthwhile read at Annie’s.

The clothing was more for older people (in my taste anyway) I got really good sunglasses there and they were pretty cheap and good quality. There was also really pretty jewelry.

Very good prices and just about anything you would find at a flea market. Lots of collectables and some antiques. Worth the visit, I always find something.
    Friendly staff.

Renee's Cat & Dog Gift Shop is just around the corner from US Route 1 near Wells Corner Shopping Plaza.

When I visited, I discovered that it’s actually three shops in one place. The main building houses Renee's Cat & Dog Gift Shop and Charlies By The Sea Gifts. The combined stores sell gifts for pets and people. The third shop carries antiques. It is in a small former art studio located between the store and the house.

The main building carries locally-made dog treats, storage containers for treats, dog and cat toys, leashes, harnesses, sweaters, clothes, feeding bowls, dog stickers, and much more.

I particularly liked the catnip puffs and catnip kitty kickers made by a local crafter. They were well made. For a friend's two cats, I got a kitty kicker at $3.99. With Maine Sales Tax, the total was $4.21. The item was shaped like a small oblong pillow.

The merchandise for people includes candles, pet-themed figurines and knick-knacks, lots of coffee mugs, key chains, and other gift items. A number of items had a nautical theme.

There was an item on the display of ornaments that I also liked. It was a Maryland-style Lighthouse with a tea light inset. Without the tea light in use, it could be a holiday tree ornament. It was $2.00.

There are several flower beds on the property with everything from Brown-Eyed Susans and Echinacea to Purple Hosta.

It was a surprise to learn that one of the owners was Rick Gordon, former Chief Meteorologist at ABC affiliate WMUR TV CH 9 in Manchester, NH. And, I learned that Rick Gordon was a stage name. I also met the other owner.

For the quality and variety of everything in the store along with the personal attention from the owners, I rate my experience at Renee's Cat & Dog Gift Shop and Charlies By The Sea Gifts at 5.0 and highly recommend a visit.

The store’s hours vary with the season.
