Important piece of history not to be missed. It was not very crowded during our visit, which was great because some of the steps in the castle area are narrow and we had to move slowly - my husband has poor sight. The staff were very helpful and helped us up a couple of short cuts at the White Tower. I went through the crown jewels twice since there was no line. Apparently sometimes there is a very long wait, but we were lucky and had no waiting at all. A must see if you visit London.

This museum/gallery, once a Train Station, is an absolute delight. On several floors with good lifts and escalators, my tip is to begin at the top and work your way down. The Impressionist paintings, sculptures and statuettes on show are very impressive and many artists are given their own rooms. Also the post-Impressionist selection is excellent. I particularly enjoyed seeing, once again, the Cezannes, Degas and Van Gogh works as well as some fine Rodin statues.

The Museum has several good places to have a snack or a lunch.

I would suggest booking in advance or using a Paris Museum Pass to avoid long queues at the entrance.

    Enjoy

The line was so long at about 11:00 am when we got out of the Sistine Chapel, that we decided to get up early the next day and arrive at St. Peter's just before it opened at 7 am. What a great idea! The basilica was not crowded and we used Rick Steves' free audio guide to move us around the magnificent building. We even attended part of a Mass that had started before we arrived at the chapel.

This is one of the best art museums in the world- much more than "the night watch" (which is also an awesome experience- it has a gallery of its own, and was lately restored- a process which is explained there) a huge collection of paintings, sculptures, weapons, jewelry, doll houses and what not- you can spend here days and still keep enjoying and learning- awesome!

I've been to Barcelona many times on business and never managed to get to see the inside of the Sagrada Familia, so whilst on holiday, I put this right. We had a guided tour as well, which was very informative and well organised. As a non-religious person, the basilica was still amazing. Understanding how the design flows from the old part and the nativity facade (started over 140 years ago) to the passion facade and then the glory facade really put context on the design. As a piece of architecture it really is outstanding in the thought and the design flow. Having done it once, I probably wouldn't go back, but it is totally worth doing once in your lifetime if you are in Barcelona.

When visiting Istanbul this must be near the top of anyone's "Must Visit" list. A number of the rooms are stunning, the setting is superb and the history of the palace is fascinating. All offering a great insight into how life in the palace was for those who's home this was.

A few comments that might be of help, based on our visit on a Friday in May.

    1. We timed our arrival for lunch time and found the queue acceptable. It only took us 20 minutes to get in. Towards the end of our visit it was getting very busy, as the afternoon visitors caught up with us.

    2. If you like a rest, or just want to sit down and soak in the atmosphere, take any empty bench you can. There are far too few and many people end up simply sitting on the grass. They should put more benches in and if cost is an issue, get firms, or families, to sponsor them.

    3. If the first cafe you come across is full there are others. Good quality / good value.

    4. The Art Gallery is well worth a visit. However the lighting in some of the rooms is minimal and like large parts of the Palace it is easy trip on the door sills and the like. They need to address this issue.

    5. In some reviews visitors are critical of the staff. We found many of them to be very friendly and helpful. A simple and cheery "Good Afternoon" was always responded to.

    6. Photos. I wanted to take a number of photographs, but observed their rules forbidding it. Frustrating as many/many people were taking pictures on their mobiles. I suggest it is allowed, or people are asked to leave them in a locker.

    7. Photos again. A number of interested people back home are following our trip to Istanbul. I think that the Palace marketing team has missed an opportunity for visitors to promote visitor numbers as people back home cannot see how splendid the interior is. Perhaps they don't want additional visitors?

In summary a great place to visit on any trip to Istanbul.

You must booking online 1 or 2 months before your visit, or go the same day to the office located near the entry and ask if is available some slot. You must be at the security checkpoint at least 15’ minutes before your entry time, and have the same documents that you use for booking. The view is amazing, the dome now is closed due maintenance work

Best zoo I’ve ever visited in my life. Most animals have huge enclosures and alot of free space. The variety of zoo fauna is unbelievable huge. I like the way they care of animals. Price is reasonable.

Any visit to Budapest you must see the Parliament building, from the river at night it’s like something out of Disney, visit during the daytime on a free walking tour and get the information about this wonderful building.
Look for the Jewish holocaust memorial on the river bank of the Danube, the shoes lined up are terrible memorial to the hundreds killed here during the Nazi occupation.
All in all a great place to wander about for and hour.

Visiting St. Basil’s Cathedral is a must to all tourists to Moscow, because it is a iconic symbol of the city. Saint Basil's Cathedral, is an Orthodox church, built in 1561. It is having a fairy tale appearance, that what makes it alluring. I had the chance to go inside with Valentina, a local guide from “Walks with Folks”. Valentina picked me up from my hotel and we reached the Red Square for a morning tour. Valentina was well informed with rich background. She spoke fluent English with varied vocabulary. She spoke like a history professor. It was like a maze inside the Cathedral with floral design in different chapels. Truly unusual interior.

    SEE photos.

Lisbon has so many beautiful castles and churches but it some point you become castled out. This offers a great reprieve and it is worth a visit. The number of fish and sea creatures are too many to count. You also get a sense they are well cared for and the aquarium is first class.

With the Vienna Pass we gained free entry to the Palace straight away, although tickets are timed, so in high-season, be prepared to wait for admittance even with a skip-the-line pass. The 40-room Grand Tour took us through large and intimate rooms, all beautifully decorated in different colour schemes and using exquisite materials including porcelain, exotic woods, gold gilt and glass. The grounds could take a couple of days to explore properly, but our highlights were the elegant Palm House and the Gloriette which we saw illuminated and reflected in the reflecting pool at dusk. The topiary, statuary, fountains and glorious rhododendrons in bloom made a sunny afternoon in the grounds quite magical. The histories of some of the residents are quite sad, like the friendless son of Napoleon who lived and died here, his only companion in this gilded cage being the lark that now sits preserved inside a glass dome in his former apartments.
One minor niggle - the toilets in the grounds near the gloriette charge 50 cents. This seems petty and just encourages people to go in the woods if they don't have a 50 cent coin to hand - not very nice. Free, quality toilet facilities, really ought to be covered by the entrance fee!

Once we found the ticket office in the gift shop we set out to explore the church, roof, and crypt of the Duomo di Milano. The roof is amazing and full of beautiful sculptures and views. The interior is gorgeous and must see. The underground is full of history and shows remains of the older foundations. All of it is worth seeing.
