What travellers are saying
- Dan UToronto, Canada52 contributionsThis is a good beach choice if you're looking for white sand and shallow, crystal clear waters for swimming.
As others have noted, it gets very, very busy. We are early risers and got there before 9 am both times we went, and had no trouble getting a spot with a great view. But shortly after that, it got really busy. The beach is small and has very little trees for shade opportunities.
But what it lacks in peace and quiet and shade, it makes up for in white sand and exceptionally calm waters. The surf breaks 100 m or so from the shore, so the water right at the beach is very well suited for swimming, especially for children. As we do not have kids, we prefer calmer environments, but we liked the beach enough to go back a second time.
There is a very large parking lot right off the beach - 3 euros for the day. Just go a bit east of the turnoff point for Plage du Bourg and you'll see the lot on south side of the main street.Written 19 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is almost like a walk but the views are amazing. It doesn’t take long. You may experience and a beach with spectacular waves.Written 16 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LewisNew York City, NY3 contributionsDriving along the coast we wanted to stretch our legs and check out Sainte-Anne’s but couldn’t find a parking spot so continued on a short distance to this pleasant beach with ample parking. Room to bake in the sun or set yourself up in the shade. There were food options that we didn’t check out since we had a different destination in mind that day and plan to go back.Written 18 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Estelle OHollviken, Sweden21 contributionsBeautiful beach with a lot of possibilities of shade, quite some restaurants and bars in the area. Very nice snorkeling among the corals!Written 1 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JLK2011Luxembourg City, Luxembourg823 contributionsEasy to take the shuttle from Le Gosier to the island. No bathroom on the island but lots of chickens. There is a café, we had slow service but the homemade coconut flan is worth any wait! Crystal clear water for snorkelling and shallow lagoon making it safe for children. Well worth the boat ride.Written 17 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- David SMiddlesbrough, UK2,407 contributionsAbout a 30 minute walk from the cruise terminal, the ACTe Memorial “Caribbean Center of Expression and Memory of Human Trafficking and Slavery” is an imposing sight. Well worth checking out if in the area.Written 21 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mitchell N StarrScarborough, UK43 contributionsWe tried several different beaches whilst on holiday in Grande-Terre and this was one of our favourites. It has a nice sandy beach, shade under the trees, it's safe for swimming and it's quite good for snorkeling (quite a lot of fish to look at). There's also a restaurant, public toilets and fresh water showers. Car parking is a bit limited so you need to get there early to grab a spot. The only downside is that there is a lot of unsightly leaf litter under the trees but you get that on all of the beaches.Written 14 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jan TaborskyOlomouc, Czech Republic250 contributionsThe aquarium is quite small, most of the basins are small like the one you have in your living room. There are 3 or for bigger ones. The best is with sharks and turtles, but you can find better in almost every sea aquarium.Written 7 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tom ZPlacida, FL325 contributionsThe cab driver who took us from the cruise port told us we were going to Le Gosier Beach. It was part of the Resort Gosier, next to Hotel Fleur d’Epee. I could not find this exact beach location on TripAdvisor, but it is on the coast and part of the Plague de la Datcha (Datcha Beach) area. I think it may be around the point at the end of Datcha Beach. It took about 20 mins. by taxi from the cruise port to get here ($30US each way).
Very surprised about the road infrastructure on Guadeloupe. Much more developed than other Caribbean islands.
This is a small but really nice beach area with coconut palms for shade. Also, we found nice lounge chairs (free). I guess they are part of the hotel(s). There are a few hotels in this area. There is a beach bar/rest., but it is kinda pricey - part of the hotel - 5EU for a beer, and 20EU for a burger - Jeez!
But the beach and views of Point-A-Pitre are great, with boats passing by - like ferries and freighters coming in and out of the port.
We had a nice day here, very relaxing and the swimming was nice.
The cab driver basically let us off next to the hotel, and we walked down the road on the right to the beach. Kind of a hidden place, unless you stay at the hotels.Written 1 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Paul W1 contributionThe beach is quite small and is at the end of a long track with a bad surface. When you get to the end of the track you arrive at a restaurant with a bar and then it's a few minutes' walk through a wood down to the beach. The beach was quite crowded when we got there, but there is shade under the trees. It's easy to get into the water to swim, and although there are some rocks it's a sandy beach.
Tarare is well known as a naturist beach and is recognized by the French naturists' association. However we found a better naturist beach just west of Cluny Beach (or Clugny - both spellings are found) near to St Rose on Basse Terre. But the access to this beach is not easy, and the beach is not signposted at all, though it is marked on one map.Written 2 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
