What an introduction to the genius of the man. One can see his vision and beginning by touring this home in which he lived, albeit for a short period of time. It is very important to take a tour as there is much to learn.

Since this was recently renovated and reopened to the public we decided to visit this lovely church again after 9 years. It truly is a beautiful piece of architecture and our guide imparted information that we don’t recall hearing before on previous visits. If you love FLW then this is a must. The tour lasted approximately an hour or a little less. For those with cars there are meters nearby or use the garage a couple of blocks away. We were able to park there and get lunch at the Courageous Cafe and only paid $2 to park. Try getting that rate in Chicago.

We took the FLW audio tour of the neighborhood. Ten homes are viewed from the street as the homes are private homes. It was a wonderful view of his style in various situations- low to high cost expansive to compact and remodels.

Beautiful building and nice interiors. The services offered inside are also wonderful. Knowledgeable librarians with study rooms and comfy chairs make this a great community resource. There are great programs for adults and children.

This place is heaven. I went here on Sunday and I absolutely enjoyed myself. From the outside this place looks small, but you quickly step inside a leafy green oasis. Even for a weekend visit the place wasn't crowded and I only crossed one other couple in there. I didn't expect to spend a whole hour here & I'm looking forward to going back already.

They also have parrots! Skipper, Sara & George! George was super vocal & adorable.

Admission is free & street parking nearby is free. The inside is pretty warm & humid for the plants so expect to sweat a little. There's a cute back area that looks like it will be fun for kids. I definitely recommend going & enjoying yourself!

While in Oak Park to visit the restored Unity Temple by FLW we finally decided to visit another Prairie Style house by a contemporary of FLW-George Maher. Much more ornate with stained glass but still in the Prairie Style this was a pleasant (no pun intended) surprise. The staff there were very friendly and enthusiastic. We couldn’t ask for a better way to finish our day in Oak Park. Although we had passed this house a number of times in years past somehow we never found time to visit it. We finally visited it this year and consider it a not to be missed architectural wonder in the area.

Great fun for all. Feels like a blast to the 90s and your inner child comes alive. If you’re in town stop by.

Walk through her with my dog multiple times per week. It is clean and kept up nicely and the Mills Mansion is beautiful. This is a perk for walking and sitting on a bench and relaxing not a "park" for kids to play at.

This is a beautifully retored old fire house with some period displays. We spent an hour on the second floor in the Fair Housing Act exhibit which explains how Oak Park and River Forest became racially sensitive.

The African Company presented Richard III. Well produced and very enjoyable. We arrived early and had a lovely Meal on the lawn. We had a great spot we set up with food, drink and friends. A wonderful night and enhanced by the performances.

The cicadas tried to out do the actors, however the outstanding performances negated the bugs.

We will go again because we truly enjoyed the evening. In fact we will be making a contribution to the theatre and I encourage others to do so!

Our friend Johnny Lee Davenport was wonderful to see on the stage. He and I did a play at the Goodman Theatre and he seems to have moved way beyond the stars. What a special treat to be at the theatre and enjoying the performances! Great Job Folks!

Great place to recreate and relax - especially during adult only hours. Clean and with recent renovations very family friendly. Looking for more action try Rehm pool on the southside of Oak Park.

While visiting Unity Temple we passed this church along the way. Little did we realize years ago that this church was used in the popular Christmas movie “Home Alone”. Unfortunately we did not get to see the inside of this lovely church but did get to take a few shots and post on Facebook to quiz friends and family. Had we been available to go to the music venue the next night we would have enjoyed seeing the interior plus the music. Perhaps next visit.
