What travellers are saying
- Patrick HIndiana16 contributionsVery unique, relaxing, and fun park.
Like me, many people will get sticker shock when they see the admission price. There are many videos posted online for Discovery Cove with “Is It Worth the Cost?” in the title.
My answer is Yes. At least if you are planning to include the dolphin swim package.
Our local zoo offers an in-water dolphin adventure for $275 per person. By comparison, for around the same cost (or less when on sale), Discovery Cove offers the same thing (or probably better) plus the day pass to the whole all-inclusive park. For not much more, you can get 14 days of access to the other Sea World affiliated parks in Orlando.
The only thing we got from Discovery Cove that I felt was overpriced was the photo package. It’s a “family” package that includes pictures of everyone in your group doing the different interactions with the dolphin. Since it was just my wife and I, there were less interactions and fewer photos needed for our group. Seems like we should’ve got a break on the cost for that. Maybe $50 per person for the photo package would be more reasonable and equitable for couples. If the package cost is being averaged out by group size, it’s not really fair for couples to
All the animal interactions and animal-care staff were excellent! Snorkeling in the reef, feeding birds in the aviary, and relaxing on the wind-away river were all amazing experiences! We purchased the Animal Trek upgrade and feel it was worth it. We got to meet some exotic birds and a sloth up-close, pet an armadillo, and even have a Military Macaw fly to and land on our arm.
Prior to going, I found several reviews that complained about the quality of food in the included breakfast and lunch buffets. However, we had no issues with the food quality and found it comparable to the buffets on a cruise ship. The recommendation I would make to the park management regarding the buffet meals is regarding the staff, not the food.
Almost every Discovery Cove employee we interacted with demonstrated outstanding levels of customer service. From the check-in hosts, to the amenity managers, the animal-care team members, to the bartenders, and the gift shop attendant… they were all really great! However, the buffet staff were somewhat unwelcoming and appeared unhappy in their work. Having worked in the hospitality industry, this stood out to my wife and I as an obvious area for improvement. Perhaps if the buffet staff were friendlier, patrons would not rate the food so harshly. Just an observation.
The final suggestion I would make to Discovery Cove management would be to include a single designated smoking area inside the actual park. It’s a pretty long hike out to the main entrance by the parking lot. Maybe a secluded area could be squeezed in somewhere near the bar at Serenity Bay. It was abundantly clear by the afternoon that there were many adult patrons in this area taking full advantage of the alcoholic beverage package upgrade. While it confused me as to why anyone would want to spend an expensive day at this type of park inebriated, I think if you’ve got an area where adults are slurring and stumbling back and forth between the bar and the beach, you might as well have some place for adults to smoke a cigarette, too.
Overall, we had a great time at Discovery Cove and do recommend it. The lack of lines and ability to see and even interact with so many animals makes it a truly special experience.Written 19 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was well worth the wait. The park was just as exciting as we remembered, and we managed to visit all the attractions we had on our list.
The absolute highlight for us was the Harry Potter areas – they’re simply magical. Walking through Hogsmeade felt like stepping straight into the films, and of course, we had to grab a couple of Butterbeers (which were as delicious as ever!). The Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure ride was hands down our favourite in the park—such an exhilarating and immersive experience! Every twist, turn, and drop had us grinning from ear to ear.
We also loved VelociCoaster what a ride! The speed, the inversions, and that insane second launch were absolutely thrilling. It’s easily one of the best rollercoasters we’ve ever been on. On top of that, we really enjoyed The Incredible Hulk Coaster, still an absolute beast of a ride! The launch never fails to take your breath away.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Islands of Adventure. It was brilliant to be back after five years, and the park didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere, the rides, and the whole experience were just fantastic. Already looking forward to our next visit!Written 7 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The best ride imo is the Transformers one, and I wish all the simulation ones were like that, but they were kinda bad and samey. Excited for the new park!Written 29 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- octoberitaly2Texas11,131 contributionsI bought the new second generation interactive wand for $91 including tax. It’s so much fun! It lights up and vibrates, letting you know the spell worked before the effects happen. You can pair with the Universal app and do adventures for more points. There are spells only the new wands can do so like dueling practice near Hogwarts. There is a leaderboard to see how you are doing compared to others. I met the game makers on the second day and they were so fun to talk to! What a great addition to the Wizarding World.Written 8 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Melissa A2 contributionsGreat shopping and restaurants with a little something for everyone. The Disney store is huge and the best Disney store we encountered in town, but there are so many other stores from casual and tourist centered (Coke, M &M, Lego, etc) to luxury brands. We enjoyed the variety available and found ourselves easily entertained for most of the day. Like most things Disney expect lots of walking, crowded spaces and done waits for the most popular stops.Written 1 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rhoda JLucedale, MS86 contributionsWe loved it. We saw the most animals that we have ever seen on the Safari ride. Pandora land is wonderful and both rides are great and on our must do list. We love the Dinosaur ride and it is going soon.Written 2 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Captain HookGrimsby, UK491 contributionsWell it's Disney and I have waited a lifetime to visit. It didn't disappoint bringing back all my childhood memories and I am so glad we visited.
As an adult you only need to go once to see what is there as even in mid-November it was the busiest of all the parks we visited.
Try and buy as little as possible too as it is as you would expect, hugely expensive.Written 6 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Make sure your familiar with the park so you not getting lost all the time like I did. The back of the park has the countries that you can see. There is a boat from Canada to Morocco and back. There are some food places in each country and also an American style cafeteria place that has burgers, salads and sandwiches in the beginning of the park.Written 18 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wreckapotamus2 contributionsWe spent a day here in January. While riding the Thrasher go karts, a few of the karts would randomly turn off. Ferlando was running the ride and did a great job restarting any karts and getting the race going again. The track is a lot for one person to manage, especially when there are issues with the karts, and Ferlando did a phenomenal job keeping it going. Everyone enjoyed the day.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JBvdMJohannesburg, South Africa220 contributionsWhat an awesome shopping day at Orlando Premium International Outlet Mall. We took a shopping day in between our park days and we had bought so much at great prices. Tip is to go really early before the crowds as when we left it was really busy. And obviously you have to go to the Disney character warehouse for great deals.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Justin B146 contributionsDuring a recent trip to Florida, this was one of our favorite days. We anticipated considerable people because it was the Sunday of President's Day Weekend and it was rather warm. Not even close. With the possible exception of a two-minute wait for the crush'n gusher, we rode every slide. Even their "drop slide" isn't as thrilling as those at "big water parks," and there's a decent selection of slides for the younger crowd. Although some of the benefits were not there, the lazy river is pleasant, lengthy, and soothing. Everything else appeared to be in decent condition, though, and the meal was pleasantly delicious.Written 3 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
