Also, some really interesting historic sites in the area - really worth the short drive for a fantastic family day or just a quiet stroll on Centre street.
Take a trolly tour or carriage ride but there is plenty of sidewalk space for leisurely walks as well for great views and photos.

Amelia Island Lighthouse Fernandina Beach
#4 of 4 Sights & Landmarks in Fernandina Beach
Interesting site with an excellent lecture
This was an amazing visit because normally you can't access the grounds and your view is blocked by trees if you drive to this light yourself.
Kingsley Plantation Jacksonville 16.9 km away
#2 of 40 Sights & Landmarks in Jacksonville
The exhibits are informative and the park rangers are knowledgeable and friendly. The weather was perfect the day we visited, and most of the site we toured on our own, walking to each building reading the displays...
The audio tour should win an academy award for its thoughtfulness and how well done it was... really made you think and get a view into the lives of enslaved persons who lived on the plantation.
