Nice park with lots of hiking. We enjoyed our stop here and hiked a couple miles to and from a lookout tower. The cost is 2$.

Nice place to hike. the trails are quite easy but you get a nice view of the area. There is a 3 dollar parkingfee for your car. Worth a visit if you are in Fort Pierce

We enjoyed an early evening hike around the lake at LeStrange Preserve. We arrived just before sunset just as the sun was beginning to set below the clouds. There was still time to take a brisk walk around the wide gravel / scrap asphalt path around the lake. The path is flat and is part open air and partly through a pine forest. There are several viewing stands overlooking the lake. Hundreds of migrating birds seen during our late November hike. A beautiful place to watch the setting sun.

I went for a walk in the area and take some pictures. The paths are very wide and well manicured. There is two paths to take that loop around on itself. The Blue trail actually includes a path to an observation tower. There is some areas that are rough with roots and wet areas. So wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots and bug spray. This place also had an elevated walk way to look over the small water area for wild life and be one with nature.

go early in the day and wildlife is there to photograph and see. It is a great place to walk and explore the natural areas of Florida.

I joined a hiking group of 6 people for a scrub jay hike. The guide kept the hike an easy pace so we could keep an eye out for wildlife. She answered our questions on the plant and wildlife that we asked about. The trail is a one mile loop with an elevated platform for an overlook view. We did see a gopher tortoise and a scrub jay on this hike.

IF you can find this place you will enjoy it. Off the Old Dixie HIghway it really is a place that the locals go to spend some time alone or with close friends. Peaceful and serene it offers a total escape for a person to rest.

I stop off here once in a while to get back to nature. IT is largely unvisited but present if you look for it. The scrub growth is home to many nesting birds and reptiles and affords sometimes good phot ops.

The U-shaped trail meanders from the parking lot down to the St Lucie River and back...about a quarter of a mile in all. If you're looking for a workout forget it. After heavy rains, much of the trail is submerged. When you get to the river, there is no vista. One can merely peer through the foliage and see the river. I took binoculars but saw not one living creature on my hike...the foliage is so dense. The parking lot is immediately across 25th Street from the local high school and the students fill it up every school day early on. Don't bother.
