Awesome theater, excellent seats love the show. We'll go many times again. It's not that far out of the way also. Many great restaurants in the area.

We had a six hour layover here between Amtrak trains. We had access to the Metropolitan Lounge. They provided free soft drinks and numerous snacks. A very neat and clean place away from the noise and station crowds. If you get the opportunity and have excess amount of time, there is no better place to wait. The attendant at the front entrance was exceptionally informative and pleasant.

Visited here to research a family name. We were met by Gail, the archivist, who was extremely helpful. Gail provided interesting archive information about the family. She stayed with us the whole time and provided helpful information. She also gave us a tour of the historical house and the next door museum. The 1900 built house has been almost fully restored to its original condition and also has virtually all its original furnishings. The woodwork was amazing and very interesting. A truly impressive place with an equally impressive guide - Gail. For those interested in Connecticut history, this is a great starting point.

Finally got to bring my grand daughter to Kids Play this past weekend. We all had a great time with tons of different things to do. I love children's and science museums and have been to many. Kid's Play is doing a great job and they are expanding again. With ImagineNation in Bristol closed to the general public and The Children's Museum in West Hartford recently relocated and downsized, Kids Play is the best place in N.W CT.

Very nice park and pond. The trail around the pond was very nice and pretty easy. About 2-3 miles long. There is also boat rentals (not open when we visited in March).

Wright's Barn is extremely easy to find. It is less than a quarter of a mile off of Route 4. It has two levels packed with antiques and a café. The café is decorated with several stunning vintage kitchen tables and chairs for customers to sit at and enjoy their food. The customer service in Wright's Barn is top notch. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. They were lovely to chat with.

Wright's Barn offers furniture, glassware, china, collectibles, jewelry, and artwork. There are 40 vender spaces and they are opened on Saturday and Sunday from 10-4:30pm. Lovely place for anyone interested in antiques. I would suggest at least an hour to be able to go through the whole building. Enjoy.

This park has a nice wide main path, looks like it was a road at one time. Its level and easy to walk and leads down to a small pond, there's also a side trail that goes along side a small brook ,with some spots up hill. very peaceful and natural.

This park is a little hard to find, depending on which way you go. Don't rely on your "map" program on your phone as it will take you to the wrong side of the park where there is no entrance. Follow Route 272 and you'll find it easily. (As you head south on 272, it will be on your left). The park has only been partially kept up over the years, but that is a plus for those who like quiet and serene surroundings. In the main parking area, look to the far right for the road that is blocked off...that provides a nice hike alongside the lake/swamp. Might be buggy in the summer, but for a spring time hike, it was beautiful. It looks as though this road has not had a car on it many, many years. Nature has reclaimed a great deal of it. You'll see the remnants of a few old picnic tables from years gone by...maybe back in the 50's? Only the cement foundations of the tables are there...the table tops and seats (made of wood) were long gone, as evidenced by the overgrowth. Don't think this is dumpy though...it's not. It's intriguing. We walked about a mile until the trail became very muddy, but we read on a website that it eventually takes you back out to the main road. When back in the parking lot, off to the right is an area that has been maintained. There is a beautiful stream there with picnic tables by it...same kind, cement with wood tops. The shady grove looks like it would be very welcoming on a hot summer day. Just past a bridge over the stream you will find another little pond and several more picnic tables. There are no fire pits though, so if you want to grill out, you should bring your own hibachi. Keep in mind there are NO trash cans, so bring a trash bag too. It was nice to see that no one left a mess behind, considering there were no trash cans. Also, I did not see any rest rooms...but we didn't really look for any. I didn't see any noted on the web site though, so I'm guessing there are none. There are plenty of woods though for an "emergency"...although I personally would view that type of emergency as a reason to "call it a day." Down one of the gravel roads that is blocked off, the path leads to a pond...at one time, this was maintained for swimming - I remember seeing a number of people there on my last visit which was about 20 years ago. It doesn't look like it's been used for swimming in a long time though...the beach is now crab grass and the pond looks like it would be a great home for snapping turtles and fish. The current CT State Park site no longer advertises swimming there, so any article that suggests you can is probably basing their info on outdated data from years gone by. Having said that, the stream looks like a very inviting place for children and adults alike to "wade" on a hot day. It looks very clean. Probably too deep for little children, but school age and above would have fun.
The park is FREE. Hence, that would explain the lack of amenities, but for those looking for a quiet place to relax, have a picnic, walk their dog or just get away from it all for a day, this is a nice place to visit. I was thinking that it would make a great Eagle Scout project to restore the abandoned part of the park to its former glory. Seems a shame that the tables overlooking the big pond were left to fall apart. The park is about 10-15 minutes from Torrington...but you feel like you are in the middle of the wilderness. The terrain is mostly flat with the exception of some slight hilly areas in the parking area. Motorized wheel chairs could probably manage it, but it might prove difficult for those with walkers or canes, with the exception of the abandoned trail I first mentioned. There's enough pavement there to make it reasonably accessible for just about everyone. With regard to the "history" of the park...there's not much that I could find on the internet. I know that John Minetto was a CT Senator. The park itself is on the grounds of the first house ever built in Winchester, CT. There's a plaque there to commemorate that. Beyond that, there is no information provided as to why half the park is abandoned or why they let the swimming pond deteriorate. One can only assume it was budget oriented, but I'm surprised there are no details available pertaining to that.

The exterior is overgrown with garbage and rats are running around in the daylight. Inside is even worse! It is filthy, hot, and filled with trash that people are trying to sell. The furniture is all moldy and broken. Most of the wares should have been discarded. It is a warehouse filled with absolute crap.

Hosted a girls' weekend in Litchfield & decided to give Pursue the Clues a try. So glad we did! Fun night with friends. Solve the puzzles to open locks and crack each other up while doing it. Lots to do and think about. Work together to unravel a mystery while following clues. You are NEVER locked in the room. Great guys running the operation. Really organized and professional. Lots of effort put into creating each scenario. There are three options. We will definitely return to attempt the other two. Went at 6:00 & then out to dinner afterward. Laughed all night. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced pp. For 4-6 people.
