Wow.. There is alot to see and you can go in the submarine.
Thought this would be a lame 45 minute maximum stop, and we were there for hours. Could have stayed longer, but we got hungry. There is a 50 minute movie, other videos, lots of displays.

Could have done without the 1920's video playing non-stop. It echoed throughout much of the display area.

Open sub was great, because there were only a handful of people there on the Monday when we went. Would have enjoyed less if it was crowded (very confining).

To be able to walk through the first US nuclear submarine was amazing and humbling. Really made me proud to be an Anerican.

Beautiful park! We brought our E bikes and rode the trail. So much gorgeous scenery and the weather was perfect. There are so many nice areas to see if you have the time.

This is a very picturesque lighthouse site! It was rebuilt a few years ago, near-by is the UConn University Oceanography studies(land and sea grant). It is a grand mansion, home of the late Plant family! This light house just complement this Plant Mansion! Both Avery Lighthouse and Mansion are a very beautiful landmark, almost a hidden gem of the State of Ct! Must see for everyone, etc.

One of the few Connecticut Revolutionary War sites. I went here with my son as we spent the day in New London looking at Coast Guard Acadamy Muesum, Fort Trumbull and the Nautilus Sub. I live not far down I-95 so it was not a big travel for me but the site is a sad piece of Revolutionary War history. It was more of a slaughter than a battle and it was American on American as I am not sure if any Brits or Hessians partook in the battle. Some historians believe it was Gen Arnold getting back at people as he grew up in the area a few miles up the River Thames in Norwich. He was a vindictive person but also screwed over but not a reason to become a traitor.

This brewery has what you're looking for (or at least what I'm looking for). Their own parking lot, outdoor and indoor seating, plus a wide variety of beers both their own and guest taps. It's a nice place to hang out and enjoy a beer in.

We'd intended to hike the trails at Bluff Point State Park on a recent trip, but the cool, foggy day wasn't ideal. So we postponed the longer trail and took the Poquonnock River Walk. It wasn't exactly as I expected. The boardwalk runs immediately behind a number of homes, so you don't really feel like you're out in nature. It is a pleasant walk with some nice views along an easy to maneuver (we met an elderly woman using a walker) trail. It runs between the playground area and a small shopping area. There is a pretty gazebo at the end of the trail. Certainly not a "must see" attraction, but worth doing if you're in the area. There is no admission fee and, if traveling with children, you'll appreciate that there is a nice playground at the start of the trail.

It is always nice to see pieces of history that have been preserved. Future generations need to remember what has happened in the past to try to prevent it from happening again.

It is a big dog park with plenty of room for the dogs to run. It seemed like many people did not pick up after there dog. You should look where your walking. It is a nice area. and plenty of room to take a walk on the trails.
