The ferry is an excellent way to avoid the traffic and enjoy the Bay views. It’s conveniently located and served by public transportation.

The museum hours are curtailed—but more spectacular is St Peters Chapel. Tours on Tuesdays & Saturdays at 10. 25 Tiffany windows in the oldest naval chapel in US! Built in 1901 with windows donated. Imagine— Tiffany had a catalog to choose windows! Sadly, visits inside Admirals Mansion & museum discontinued, but Chapel & grounds tours

There are so many really interesting vegetables and food I had not tried before that they had here. Really big farmer's market.

The McCune is a fascinating collection of both rare books and letterpress printing equipment. There are other collections of rare books in the SF Bay area and there are also establishments devoted to the art of letterpress printing - but the McCune is the only one to combine both. You can examine works from specialty printers like Nonesuch Press and the Grabhorn Brothers as well as books from the 14th & 15th centuries on vellum with leather bindings. The Collection also has on display a working Albion press plus many bookbinding implements.

While admission is free, donations are appreciated. Public hours however are limited to Saturdays noon-2pm. If you're in Vallejo for their 2nd Friday Art walk every month, you can also visit the McCune from 5-9pm on those evenings as well. By getting on their email list you can receive notices about other special events - usually on Sundays in the Spring and Fall. No visit to Vallejo would be complete without seeing the McCune Collection!

Housed in the city's old 1927 city hall building - listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this fine museum covers both the history of this former state capital (indeed it was the capital twice) and fittingly its deep connection to the Navy through the Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

Museum exhibits are spread across two floors. On the first floor, local history is covered in images, artifacts, and text panels in was the mayor's office and police station. On the other side of the building on the first floor is a large multi-purpose room that is used for various functions and currently also is a gallery for local artists. Upstairs the focus is the naval history of the community with again numerous displays including photos and artwork, ship models, artifacts, and information panels - be sure to look around the hallways as they are also used for displaying more photos and art relating to the Mare Island yard and the ships built, repaired, and stationed there. Also on the upper floor is a theatre with additional historic displays mainly focusing on the women of Vallejo - apparently a lot of women in the area served as sponsors for Navy ships built at Mare Island as there are artifacts and photos relating to this here as well. The galleries here complement nicely the yard's own museum so if you really have an interest in this aspect of the town's history, you should probably visit both.

Once you are finished looking at the galleries, be sure to stop in the gift shop - we picked up several books on local history and the naval presence in the area.

Admission is $5 for adults and the museum is open Tuesday through Friday afternoons and Saturdays from 10 to 4. We spent over an hour here and enjoyed this well thought out museum telling the story of this interesting town.

Go early, no waiting for rides. Activities with animals start around noon. Staff is friendly. The crowd arrives about mid-afternoon. Although we do not ride roller coasters, it appears that they do not open all of them at the same time when crowds are small. However, when they close one coaster, they open another one. Nice to be there with the winter Christmas/holiday theme.

I went to the vino godfather twice and loved it. Not many places has dancing with fun people. My boyfriend invited me and purchased a table of 8 , when his nephew was in the band playing the drums.
Since then, we went back again and loved it.
We are both going to be 85 this year and was thinking of having a birthday party for my BF with family and friends. But I need to know who will be playing this year September 9th weekend and who can I notify for information?
Both our spouses has passed on and we meet at a class union 75 years later. It was fate ❤️

This is a former military base which has an atmosphere of abandonment. The villas of the top officers contrast with the blocks where the rest lived. The derelict streets have a certain haunting quality.

What a great spot for lunch if youre on Mare Island… or its nearby. Great setting along Napa River for sitting inside or out. Quite a diverse menu & all delicious except nachos ( fake cheese). The shrimp louie with grilled shrimp, brat in pretzel roll & petite burger on brioche with argula. Sampler of beers was excellent— from the marzen ( with brat) to porter. Plenty of room for a group. We walked over after tour if lovely St Peters chapel & its 25 Tiffany windows

Two separated bridges with one for the north and one for the south bound traffic. Both bridges distinctly different. Very nice!
