Technically a desert, this area has huge skies and an End of the World feeling. Little cottages, forlorn boats and rusting machinery grow out of the shingle and the tiny steam trains pass through an eerily quiet landscape. Two lighthouses and two nuclear power stations complete this surreal landscape which is somehow completely beautiful. Would recommend a visit to Derek Jarman's Garden and the Snack Shack for the freshest fish sandwich you will ever taste.

Stayed in a cottage right by the Dungeness Estate. The scenery is stunning (well maybe not the power station). Lovely and peaceful.

A lovely old lighthouse. Good climb to the top for great views of the area. It wasn6too busy so easy to climb the stairs and view from outside. Well worth the £4.50.

The RSPB reserve at Dungeness covers a wide area with a well marked out 2 mile walk taking in the main sites. Many bird hides throughout and the landscape is amazing what with the power station looming in the background. Not as commercial as Rye Habour which is no bad thing giving the location. Toilets and car park available but no refreshments when we visited so take a packed lunch! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

I booked this tour for my Husband and I having recently been to Chernobyl, which sparked a general interest in nuclear power, and we wanted to see a working nuclear power plant. We were not disappointed. Our guides were Sarah and Helen, who were very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic, and answered any questions in a non-patronising way. The tour was very well run, security was tight, which is understandable, and the rules were the same as at Chernobyl, that is, you must be completely covered up, bring your passport, any forms must be completed accurately, and do as you are told. I am so glad we did this tour as it was really interesting. I wish we had arrived earlier so we could have taken more time in the Visitor Centre which was also informative and well presented. We were lucky enough to see the top of the reactor, and the training room which is an exact copy of the Control Room used to train people before they are allowed to do it for real. A really enjoyable afternoon.

Was great to see such an amazing life saving piece of equipment up close. Was astonished at how much these boats and machines cost, with no public funding. Get behind this organisation and go and support them by visiting and buying something in the gift shop!!

We have never seen the cottage in full flower. It was an absolute delight: so colourful it took your breath away. Huge thanks to the people who look after it.

The fish &chips here are the best ever. Huge portions. Cafe is very clean and staff very pleasant. We visited twice and both meals were excellent. Also a very enjoyable ride on the train
