Never go to Frisco without taking the ferry to Saucilito.
Really lovely place to saunter around with twee little cafe's and boutique shops.
Just siton a bench and admire the views of Alcatraz and Frisco

Absolute gorgeous view!!! A must see in the San Francisco area! The view is breathtaking and there is still a lot of history around it.

We enjoyed visiting the center. What an amazing experience learning what they do here. The volunteers and staff were so knowledgeable and answered all questions. You can see some of the rescued animals in their cages in the distance. They sure have a nice facility to help them recover. To see some of the residents closer they have live cameras showing what' going on in 4 different cages. It's beautiful there - up on a hill overlooking the ocean and mountains. Bring something to drink. They don't sell food or drinks and have no water fountains. Just a fill your water bottle station. We did not rent a car on our trip to San Francisco but took a Lyft ride to get here. This turned out to be a big problem. No cell phone service. We hooked up to their Wifi and thought we had a ride arranged to come and get us. 4 different drivers lost the signal on their way to pick us up. We were in a panic! We kept trying to message the driver who was currently trying to get there and finally heard back from him. In the mean time another driver with an Uber/Lyft sign pulled in and we went to talk to him. They say not to get into a ride unless you can confirm the license plate and he was not the current one we could see. Then the other driver pulled in. I felt so bad for the driver that arrived first but felt safer riding with the one we could confirm the license plate. He explained to us that he lost the signal and was now worried whether he could find his way back. Uff da! If you want to see this fabulous Mammal Center, rent a car if you didn't come to the area in your own car!

Amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. Busy spot even of a foggy day. Short uphill hike from the road. Parking can be a challenge but there are several options along the one-way road before you reach the main parking area. You access Conzelman Road by going through the Baker-Barry Tunnel off I-101.

This place was a great choice to visit with my kid during the Thanksgiving holiday week. We arrived shortly after opening at 10am and felt super comfortable. Crowds definitely thickened toward noon. We were making a day of it so we took the Golden Gate Bridge ferry from SF to Larkspur (check Sausalito or Tiburon for better locations, but that time worked the best for us) and then it was about a $20 ride app to the discovery museum.

My child is a very young (disabled) 8 year old. The museum website says it's optimal for ages 0-8 and that was right on target for us. The outdoor play structures were awesome; seasonal activities included "paint my ride" giant paintbrushes + yellow paint + truck statues; my kid's favorite was an "iceless skating" indoor rink. The food concession (Sprout?) is the same as at the Oakland Fairyland, so my kid enjoyed the rocket quesadilla and I had a wrap that sat well with me - fresh, real food, thumbs up.

The tickets aren't cheap. What you pay for: Beautiful surroundings, the California weather we know and love, unique activities, enough space to just be and enjoy.

As a visitor to the area a trip to Rodeo beach was recommended to me. I parked in the main car park where there are also restroom facilities and walked down the path leading to the beach.
I loved this walk. It was easy and well signed. This pathway also takes you past the marshlands where there was an abundance of wildlife.
Rodeo Beach didn’t disappoint. It was a rugged and interesting beach with lots of rocky outcrops and places to explore. The sand was great and the beach walk really nice.
There were some great photo opportunities too.

About a 15-minute walk north from the Sausalito ferry landing is the Bay Model. It is a working 1.5-acre model of the San Francisco Bay operated by the Army Corps of Engineers that simulates the bay's tidal conditions. Unfortunately, it was closed the day I visited.

It wasn't a total loss though as directly outside the front entrance was a device that I had not seen in well over 20 years, with many TripAdvisor readers only reading about it in history books . . . a working payphone! When I picked up the receiver, I couldn't believe my ears . . . a dial tone. I put in 50 cents and used the opportunity to call my host and thank him for a delicious Friendsgiving porchetta he had prepared a few days prior.

The Sausalito Ice House has a lot of history about it and it’s undergoing some form of interior renovation. Great little piece of property.

Great fun wandering around the coast looking at the houseboats…and breakfast at the little cafe at Waldo Harbour was excellent too. Quite a walk back into downtown Sausalito tho, about 40 mins.

The reviews here were great. It was a very hot day inland, so we decided to escape the heat and check this place out. It's a great place to enjoy the view. Large open grassy area you can bring a blanket or chairs and a picnic lunch, or enjoy the restaurant at Cavallo Point Lodge.

These are located in Waldo Point Harbor. It is quite an experience to see thse unique houseboats lining up the pier. Technically they should be called floating homes instead of house boats as they don't have motors.

This beach is a hike down so don’t plan to bring a lot with you. The sand is beautiful and the hike cuts down on the number of people. I believe there were only 6 other people on the beach while we were there. Easily recommend swinging by here to cool off and avoid the crowds. And yes, there were 2 nudists on the beach but so far off on the end that it wasn’t a bother.
