- Sarah GHarrogate, UK1,488 contributionsProbably the best place we visited in Silicon Valley in terms of things to look at, and free. We did a self guided drive with commentary, which was a great way to see the area, and this was one of the stops.Written 7 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B. Cooper7 contributionsI haven't been to Great America in over 20 years, so I read some reviews before we went so I would know what to expect. My husband and I were bringing 3 teen boys with us, we wanted to capitalize on the fun for them. A lot of the reviews I read, I was set up for disappointment. I was expecting a run down, overpriced, terrible food and service park, full of unruly teens. That was not what we got. It was festively decorated for Tricks and Treats and there were a ton of dressed up kids and adults in the park. It was clean, the majority of the rides were open (a couple were closed several times a day, but re-opened) Overall it felt like a family friendly park that is in fact still being taken care of.
We did opt for the very expensive fast passes. They were probably worth it, as the day went on the park did fill up. By night it was pretty packed, we got there around 2pm and enjoyed the day being able to navigate the park without having to wait long anywhere. As dark neared the lines started getting pretty long, and the fast passes were handy. Yes, the food is overpriced we paid nearly 15. for a caramel apple, but it was good. . We also had fried chicken and it really wasn't that bad. Every staff member we interacted with was pleasant. The boys spent the day doing what they wanted, we wandered around and checked the whole place out. It's big and it was festively decorated for Halloween, they even had a whole Oktoberfest section that had beer and games. (Husband doesn't drink or we would have hung out here for awhile) There were fire pits set up with comfy chairs. Overall, our experience was surprisingly fun. Yes, it is expensive, especially if you get fast passes, and you buy food. (We did buy the boys the meal plan, unsure if it was worth it, as it did not include snacks or drinks, and I think they only ended up using it once); but if they plan to eat more than once, it will pay for itself. The bathrooms were clean and there were plenty around the park, you can bring a water bottle and refill it around the park, there are lockers ($15.00 for a small one), but you can also leave and come back if you stop and talk to the exit gate person. There are carnival games, they are pretty expensive. No cash here, but there are kiosks were you can turn cash into a card. Like I said overall we had fun, The Demon is still a super fun coaster after 20 years!
And the Gold Striker is no joke. Probably the scariest, most fun coaster I have ever been on. It was nuts.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Now we are coming with our younger children and park is still we’ll maintained. They have beautiful playground for younger children. Older children have rustic climbing and hiding areas over the bridge. Lots of spaces for people who wants to exercise. Scenic pond is wild life refuge for migrating birds with lots of ducklings. Grass is full of flowers. Near by is well known swimming center for synchronized Olympic swimmers and divers. Santa Clara library is amazing resource for local communities. Barbecue area is full of blooming wisterias. Major fireworks on 4th of July happened in this park. Every corner of this park is loved dearly. Highly recommended for all ages. Very safe environment.Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ZackUribeSanta Clara, CA55 contributionsThis library has a decent resident selection and since they are tied to the rest of the Santa Clara city library service AND NOW, the Link+ group, it is much easier to get access to harder to find books.Written 17 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheLeongOhanaUnited States7,575 contributionsUlistac Natural Area was located off Lick Mill Boulevard with street parking available. The entrance was dominated by a large wooden sign and a bit understated. It’s an easy walk from nearby homes if one was lucky enough to live nearby.
The paths were gravel, flat and well maintained. Signs were posted in certain areas highlighting the natural features of the land. Most helpful were the poison oak warnings so we did not let our dog stray off the path.
While the sun was out, a chill was still in the air so we kept a good pace. We made our way to the back and walked along the Guadalupe River for a bit. Here we saw Levi Stadium in the distance but the pumping station was a bit of an eyesore. After awhile we turned around and meandered around the many interconnected trails. In a clearing, big tree trunk parts were arranged in circles and some kids were jumping from one to another chasing each other.
Since it was still winter, no flowers were in bloom so it was a little drab but the clear blue sky made up for it.
Still having the fresh air and open space was a good get away from civilization for a short while.Written 13 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
