I've known about the trails here but have always made the trip to fabulous Joshua Tree National Park - after all how could something minutes from Palm Springs be as interesting?
The one-mile Andreas Loop trail was gorgeous--weaving in an out of the creek/huge palms that looked like something out of Jurassic Park and then climbing to give you views of the surrounding mountains.

The return hike would have been simpler had we retraced our steps on the Nature Trail, but the alternate trail provided a completely different perspective and some great views from up above the canyon floor.
Spent about 3 hours hiking in Palm canyon doing the valley Palm canyon trail and then the 3 mile Victor trail that returns back to the park hq.

We hiked early and had the place to ourselves and the natural denizens of nature, including a nice sized red-tailed hawk sitting on a boulder beside a stream.
If you go to the far end of the canyon to park it is a difficult walk down the hill to the canyons, take time and do it as once there it is beautiful !
