Harbor Beach
#1 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
Of course, you can always drop the family off with all your beach stuff and park on the other side of the train tracks and walk back, even on the busiest of days, so you can always find a way to enjoy this beach.
There is RV parking close to the beach and also on the other side of the harbor just off Carmelo Drive.... you could park there for free and walk underneath the tunnel and past the harbor to reach the beach.
Oceanside Strand
#2 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
Lots of people walking dogs or riding bikes or just hanging out in park or on beach.
Instead of driving it, park on Pacific and then walk down.
Guajome County Park
#3 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
Beautiful trail around lake and around back of park.
The park is situated in a nice residential area but is close to a lot of services and stores.

San Luis Rey River Trail
#6 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
Take the trail starting at this park and head to the western end beach for a swim to cool off or have a great meal at one of the nearby restaurants overlooking the lighthouse and harbor.
It was about 9 miles from the park to the beach and we rode back as well...so it was really nice...kids only complained of sore behinds, but that's expected.
Buena Vista Audubon Society & Nature Center
#7 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
we visit Oceanside yearly for a couple weeks in February and always find new places to explore we always stop by the nature center to catch up on the sightings that are unique.
There's a nice little nature center to visit, but the real gem is the trail that winds through the reeds.
Buccaneer Park
#8 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
Little local hidden gem of a park; climbing ropes, tilted merry-go-round, swings, spinners, etc... Best for little kids.
The play equipment is well maintained and has a great variety of activities, the cafe in front of the park is a small cafe to grab a bit and sit at the park to eat.
Tyson Street Beach
#9 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
This beach is on the Strand and has a grassy park and playground with restrooms beside it.
The park was nice for kids, there was places to eat conveniently near the beach and park.
Heritage Park Village Museum
#10 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
Nestled behind the Mission San Luis Rey, this small park is filled with buildings from Oceanside's past.
I worked at the park last Saturday.
Coastal Rail Trail
#11 of 17 Nature & Parks in Oceanside
We particularly like the section of path that runs along Pacific Street (just after Buccaneer Park) and is elevated.
