After all that Covid lock-up, our company with 17 employees was planning a company outing. We narrowed it down to get out into the Monterey Bay. Originally, we hoped to do a teambuilder sailing cruise. Something exciting. We called several sailing companies, but we found out that sailboats only take up between 6-11 people max. Then we called Monterey Sailing & Boat Charters. This company only specializes in private charters.
It’s the only company in Monterey that caters to larger groups. They offer sailing too, but since we were a group of 17, we had to go on a larger motorized vessel that carries up to 49 people, which was fine with us. The owner assured us that this was the best choice, since we were able to gout out a lot further into the bay and also see whales! The booking was fast and easy. They have a flat rate for up to 20 people. It was a $1500 flat see. No extra taxes or costs.
We were also able to bring anything for food and drinks. Alcohol was also absolutely no problem.
We had to board after 3:30, since the boat hs being used for public whale watching cruises throughout the day. We were greeted by the captain and crew and got onto the boat. There was a lot of outside space and even inside space with tables and soft benches incase someone wanted to sit down, get warm, and for comfortably eating our food.
The trip was amazing. First we saw all the harbor life. The captain slowed the boat down and explained all the wildlife. Then we were on our way into the vast bay. After we past Lovers Point, the captain took us past Point Pinos, and we were suddenly surrounded by tons of dolphins. A few minutes later, we saw humpback whales. The entire two-hour trip was amazing! I recommend a two-hour charter. Some in our group were glad to be back on land. A three hour tour would have been too long. We were very happy that we all came back with a lot of pictures of this event. I highly recommend Monterey Sailing & Boat Charters!
