- SageTravelerSan Diego751 contributionsThough Mendocino is a small village, there's plenty to explore in town. With cabin rentals & lodges in the nearby hills and coastal towns.
Don't forget to pause & enjoy the views.Written 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Point Cabrillo is not the most impressive light I've visited but it is very charming and the view is still impressive. It has clearly been upkept well and all the other buildings match the lighthouse in color and style.
The park operates under regular business hours so I was not able to make it to the gift shop while it was open. However, I was delighted that you are still able to go and visit the (outside of) the lighthouse after it has "closed". And with no admission cost! It's a bit of a walk (downhill) from the parking lot but the path is paved and accessible. There are picnic tables where you can enjoy the view.
This is definitely a must-see if you are staying in the area, especially if you need a little something to do. I didn't notice any paths down to the beach but there are so many other beaches in the area that it was nice to enjoy some cliffs without the temptation of the climb haha.Written 28 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This park is dog friendly; however, some areas would be unsafe and difficult for dogs to traverse. People should also use caution when walking along the cliffs.Written 16 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jv66210Oklahoma City, OK152 contributionsWe enjoyed the coastal cliff trail. I think dogs are allowed in some parts of the park but perhaps not all parts. Check the park website before bringing your pet. Our dog visited the beach and walked the cliff trail with us.Written 16 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wes YBellevue, WA40 contributionsNice sandy beach by the creek mouth. Light/warm sand (July) and a little creek mouth to the ocean. - deepwoodsMinnesota105 contributionsThis location is a multi-building art center, gallery, and art maker spaces. They also offer lodging to people here for some of their educational events. The lodging is also open to the public. We stayed at one of the units for a weekend trip to the coast and redwood forests. The lodging was arranged and paid for online. An email provided details to find the unit, code for the electric locks, and wifi information. The lodging was a great ground floor studio with bath, 2 beds, and efficiency kitchen in the midst of colorful gardens. It was quiet and delightful. Local businesses, bars, and eating establishment were all walking distance away. The ocean is about 1/4 mile away with all public park space for shorelines.Written 8 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael FAudubon, MN37 contributionsThe Kelley House is a great piece of history. You can tour the main floor and upstairs and see how people lived. There is a touch screen TV with a multi-slide where you can read all about the Kelley family and ancestors. The docent was very helpful. It's worth taking some time to walk through it.Written 22 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are also amazing examples of custom built wood furniture; tables, chairs etc...amazing craftsmanship. - Jon CSan Jose, CA146 contributionsSpent the weekend in the Mendocino area so I purchased tickets to see Mendocino Theatre Company’s performance of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for a Saturday evening show after dinner. The show started at 8:00pm, was about three hours long, and all I can say is that the performance was spectacular and well done. This is a long show with many lines and emotions and the actors were absolutely polished and made the characters come to life. Having never seen this play or movie before, my wife and I left the show thinking about the play and went back to our room and read more about the play’s plot as it was very thought provoking.
The theater was very intimate and as a big guy (6’5” 270lbs.) I was rather cramped in the seat but it was ok… the performance had me captivated.
For anybody looking for a venue after dinner in the Little River/Mendocino/Fort Bragg area, I recommend this theater company. We really enjoyed the performance.Written 2 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
