Hiking to Taktsang monastery: i will save myself from explaining what it is. Here’s what you may need to know.
    1. An amateur tracker like me would need: something sugary (chocolate, juice - not carbonated water), at least 1l water (I had 1l water & 2 250ml juice bottles), hat to protect from Sun, goggles, umbrella in case it rains, jacket. I saw many had changed their shoes to floaters during downward descent. I wish I had my floaters. The toe was pushing against the shoe while climbing down which slowed me a lot. A backpack is recommended so that your hands are free to hold stick/ handrails.
    2. Money(in cash)
    - 100/- for 1 walking stick. I found 1 stick to be sufficient enough
    - 1,300/- for mule ride for way up. It covers about 70% of route
    - 1,500/- for way down
    - 1,000/- as entry fee
    - About 1,000/- to 1 ,500/- for cafe break while going up & on way back
    3. Track itself is not difficult. It’s just that we city dwellers are not used to walking or climbing up/ down. Find your pace, go slow, take breaks, enjoy scenery, pose for photos (while not blocking route for others). you’re not going there to prove anything to anyone. Only a small stretch of route is man-made- that’s the concrete stairs, rest all is mud & roots & loose gravel. It is this what we city dwellers are not used to & have to be careful during decent. It doesn’t mean that it is difficult or prone to fall.
    4. Dress yourself in layers. I had a thin but warm & light weight jacket on while riding mule. Took it off at the cafe. Took off the sweatshirt after few minutes of hike leaving me with a full sleeve cotton t-shirt. Jeans or trouser or any sort of lower will work. It’s a hiking not rock climbing ;)
    5. You may think of treating yourself with stone bath or a foot massage post the trek. I opted for foot massage. The funny part was the next day my foot was perfectly ok but upper thigh was horribly sore. I, city dweller, limped for almost rest of the trip. I had done Paro first followed by Punakha, Chelela & Thimphu

Truly an architectural marvel. A circular building comprising of 7 floors constructed in the 17th century orignally as a watch tower to kepp a look out for invading tribes from Tibet. Been converted into a musuem in the 60s with many artefacts and items pertaining to the various Kings and rulers of Bhutan. It is located about 30 mins from main Paro town.

It is highest memorable road in Bhutan connecting Haa Valley and Paro. The pass is surrounded by mountain ranges from all the sides. We got to see the snow capped mountains and suddenly experiennced the snow fall also. Different coloured flags add beauty to the place. Winds are very speedy. We enjoyed coffee and Maggie also. A lady was selling some handicrafts at reasonable price than elsewhere.
One must carry sweaters, hand gloves and caps.
As the road is zig zag you may feel like vomiting.

There's a newer bridge alongside this old one and you now cross over on that. This bridge is made from handmade iron chain links and you can see that they are all slightly different. There's a small chapel across the other side of the river with mini chortens and a monastery a bit further up.

We had the best time imaginable with Jimmy and Kencho. We saw amazing sites, had amazing food and had so much fun with our two guides. I cant recommend this tour enough- the country is spectacular and our guides could not do enough for us. From climbing tigers nest to visiting monasteries, playing pool with the locals, rice wine with scrambled eggs and so so much more, we really have memories for a lifetime. Come hungry- you will be exceptionally well fed. Sórcha and Meghan xx

Karma Gyeltshen and his team run a great, professional travel company and take excellent care of their customers. Mr. Gyeltshen was highly responsive and patient in the few months prior to the visit, sorting out visas and internal flights; and in giving various options to upgrade accommodation, etc.
Once in Bhutan, we were taken care of by our guide, Sangay, and driver (another Karma - a very safe and friendly driver). We were later joined by my brother-in-law, whose driver/guide (Karma Duptho) was excellent. Sangay was very knowledgable.
I would not hesitate to use BMH's services again and hope to return in the next couple of years.

I contacted Anadewa tours after seeing the Google listing. After contacting so many travel agents in Bhutan, Tashi was the most reasonable one. Hence I decided to go ahead with him. We were a group of 3 women. I requested Tashi to arrange for a lady guide, which he promptly did.
The hotels were booked according to our choices and they were great. Bhutan is a treasure trove of natural beauty, and we were more interestrd in hiking to these exquisite places. Tashi planned our itinerary very well.
And kudos to our guide Radha who made necessary changes depending on our time, energy levels during the trip.
    I highly recommend Anadewa travels.

Bhutan stands as a remarkable destination, captivating visitors with its stunning landscapes, profound cultural heritage, and the warmth of its people, all enriched by the deep roots of Mahayana Buddhism. It is an essential visit for those who seek beauty and enlightenment in their travels. During our 7-day journey, we were privileged to witness the full splendor of Bhutan, a testament to the impeccable planning and organization by Bhutan Personal Tours (BPT). Our itinerary, thoughtfully curated to include Paro, Punakha, and Thimphu, allowed us to immerse ourselves fully in the diverse experiences Bhutan has to offer. BPT's dedication was evident in their choice of our guide, Tashi, whose insightful commentary and delightful sense of humor enriched our exploration, making him an invaluable part of our adventure. Our heartfelt thanks to Bhutan, BPT, and Tashi for an unforgettable experience.

I used TourHQ to find a company that could provide the custom tour that we wanted. Dorji had a fantastic itinerary for us at a great price. He hit a home run!

Dorji was a great communicator and when the airlines threw us a curve, he was able to pivot and change plans with no worries.

Our guide, Tenzin, and driver, Pemba, were fantastic. Tenzin took us to a wide variety of cultural and religious shrines and museums and he explained everything. He walked with us to the top of the Tiger's Nest Monastery too.

Pemba was an excellent driver. My wife can get nervous with drivers who are a little wild and Pemba's driving suited her perfectly.

Overall, I'd give ATI Jong and Dorji and his team the highest recommendation!

This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It will be totally worth the effort. You will need patience and resilience. Take it slow and focus on each step and try not to look up. Your reward for making it to the top will be beyond measure. Be sure to light a candle at the top.
