- NorthStar608104298481 contributionMy family and I visited Bhutan for five days in the end of November 2023 and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable trip for all of us. Deki, from Bhutan Best Inbound Tour was our point of contact. She drafted our itinerary in the way we wanted giving us a mix of relaxing hikes, hot spring dips, and an experience of the local way of life apart from the main attractions. She was flexible and prompt in her responses also made her self available on her off days to help answer our queries.
Tandin Dorji was our guide through the trip and he was very patient and helpful throughout especially when we trekked to Tigers Nest (we took 8 hours and he walked along with us patiently without ever making us feel we are taking too long). He even carried our bags as we found it tough to trek with it. We had read good reviews about him and were happy to know that he would be our guide and I must say that we were not disappointed. Not only did he have good knowledge but he was also very courteous and helpful, always checking if were comfortable.
A special thanks to Ugyen Phuntsho, who carefully drove us around for 7 days and waited for us at the base of the Tigers Nest as we returned 8 hours later! We also got a chance to experience a natural hot spring, Chubu Tshachu, known for its medicinal value. The drive upto the hot spring was about 2 hours (one way) with farm roads for more than half the journey. Ugyen was patient and careful through the tough drive with a smile always.
We had our pickup and drop from Siliguri to Thimpu and vice versa arranged through the agency itself and the coordination between the Indian driver (upto the border) and Tandin and Ugyen (from Phuentsholing to Thimpu) was perfect without us having to spend any time waiting for the pick up on the other side. The agency also arranged our e-permit for us in advance and this saved our time in the immigration office at the border.
Overall, our trip was well planned and we were put up in comfortable hotels and had delicious food both local and Indian. Deki, Tandin and Ugyen were always polite and helpful and made it a pleasant experience for us.
Bhutan is a beautiful country, different from anything we have seen before. The simple way of life in the midst of untouched nature is a rare thing these days and leaves us with a lot of food for thought. It was interesting to learn about the Buddhist principles and beliefs and we go back refreshed and ready to incorporate some of their principles in our daily life.

Every second was memorable as Jigme and Nima made sure we traveled comfortably, and they were courteous. We felt at home. I must say that they took us into their world of culture and heritage. This travel gave us an opportunity to experience the greatness of Buddhism as well. I would definitely recommend (name of the agency) for your trip to experience Bhutan with ease and comfort, and for everlasting memories as well. We enjoyed the picturesque beauty of Bhutan. Was lovely. So many pictures taken - not enough to capture Bhutan's beauty.
Good hotels, great food and wonderful experiences.
Of course, the capping was the trek to Tiger's Nest. Mr Tamang had planned our itinerary perfectly and our guide Mr Tandin and driver Mr Sajan executed it very well! We had plenty of hikes planned, followed by many cultural activities around Paro, Thimphu, Punakha and Gangtey. Our hotels were great and our stay was very comfortable. Mr Tamang kept checking in on us to make sure that the trip went smoothly. We had a wonderful experience in Bhutan and would love to visit again. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Julie L1 contributionFrom the moment I reached out to Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel to inquire about a potential trip to Bhutan, Mr. Karma was extremely responsive, accommodating, and helpful. We had all sorts of information we needed to ensure our trip was successful.
Once we arrived in Bhutan, we were greeted by our personal guide (Mr. Tashi) and our driver (Mr. Nidup). Both gentlemen were with us, and only us, for the duration of our trip. Both are extremely personable and knowledgeable. We learned so much and laughed a lot. Mr. Tashi always ensured every restaurant or host accommodated my lactose intolerance. They both ensured we always had enough to eat and drink throughout our visit and made us as comfortable as possible throughout.
When an unexpected rainstorm hit us on our first day, Mr. Tashi recommended we change to a different hike/monastery since it would be less steep and muddy, which resulted in us getting an unexpected blessing/ritual bath from the lama (head monk) of the monastery. We saw so many amazing views and learned a ton about Buddhism and Bhutanese history and culture. We ended up changing our itinerary on the fly to exclude the Bumdrak Trek and camping for health reasons, which Mr. Tashi accommodated without complaint. We chose instead to trek up to Tiger's Nest and had the chance to meditate in one of the temple rooms for 30 minutes undisturbed. It allowed us to reflect on life’s journey that ultimately lead us here, the culmination of years of healing and personal growth. I'd highly recommend starting the trek early. We started around 6am and were pretty much the only people on the entire trek up. It made the trek so much more spiritual and personal for us. Mr. Tashi and Mr. Nidup provided us with their own personal trekking poles to use.
Some tips when visiting Bhutan: pack toilet paper with you as many of the public and/or rural restrooms do not have toilet paper, have hand sanitizer available as many also do not have soap, and get into hiking shape to truly enjoy the experience.
Bottom line...we absolutely loved Bhutan and plan to return. We would definitely go with Bhutan Acorn Tours & Travel again and highly recommend you check them out too. On arrival our guide Tenzin asked about our interests and what we wanted from the tour and adapted it as we went along. His knowledge of the country and easy going character made the trip hassle free, he went above and beyond to give us the time of our lives from a extra suprise organising a motorbike for 3 days to waking up at the crack of dawn to search out black neck cranes for us! And a special thanks to our drivers Pema and Tandin for getting us around safely. Bhutan best inbound were really accommodating and helped us plan the trip down to the day fitting in wildlife watching in Manas park as well. There is no doubt that we will be back again! and using Bhutan best inbound for our trip planning.

I have visited 165 countries and have looked forward to visiting Bhutan and was not disappointed. It was a beautiful country, my favorite so far, and the itinerary was excellent as were the selected hotels. Most significantly, my guide, Tenzin, and my driver were superb. Their English was excellent and they were fun, flexible and knowledgeable. - Lin S15 contributionsI am just starting my return trip back to the US after 2 weeks in Nepal, followed by 5 days in Bhutan. From our arrival at the Bhutan airport we could sense the calm and quiet that we enjoyed throughout our stay. Swallowtail really dialed in the perfect amounts of educational sightseeing with relaxation time, and plenty of authentic Bhutanese cuisine! The monuments we visited were so beautiful and interesting. And the views driving from Thimphu to Punakha were stunning.
