Beautifil scenery in this picturesque part if Ireland.
Rated four due to cold wind and threatening rain. We were amazed at the hearing its history and that it is the ONLY Abby established by a woman.

It’s been quite a while since I last visited Exploris but their have been noticeable improvements inside the facility, not least the ‘underwater’ tunnel which to be fair is now to be expected in an aquarium. To be honest, the experience is let down by the state of the outdoor areas, a seal pool which really doesn’t look like it has seen water for a long time, it looks untidy and unloved and really needs attention. Secondly, why the rabbits, it’s an aquarium. We did enjoy inside though.

Lovely place to walk and admire the beautiful scenery of County Down.
Kearney village itself is very quaint and is worth a visit.

We were driving along the scenic loop around Portaferry, after admiring the nearby bay when we spotted this place.
It has a wee car park and two ways down. One smooth for wheel chairs.
The altar and well has been recently rebuilt with some of the original stone from the old destroyed church.
What I remarked was how peaceful it was,and I really wanted to meditate, but my friend was rushing.
I could see how the well would have been used to wash and for religious things.
The place is worth a stop off when in the area.

Nice place for a scenic walk. If staying in Portaferry ideal for a stroll as it commences in the town. Can be muddy in places so don't wear your beat footwear

This is a fantastic place to learn about the history of the area. Lots of information about the early settlers and sites of historic interest. Definitely worth checking out.

Called in, on tour of the town, it was extremely interesting and well set out. I felt it was a good taster of the history of the area. The two mannequins were a light sight on the visit. This exhibition is set up and guided by volunteers. Well done...not to be missed

If you are ever down the Ards Penisula then I recommend a little trip to Portaferry, and while you are there explore the village and head up to the Portaferry Windmill stump. From the Portaferry Windmill you can get some stunning views of Portaferry and Strangford Village on the otherside of Strangford Lough. Well worth the short walk from the village centre and it really makes me want to head over to Strangford on the ferry.

Played here yesterday with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. To be honest, we weren't expecting that much, but had a great day. The fairways and greens are cut a little longer than you would expect, but they are well maintained and consistent which is a bonus. Some tricky tee shots and challenging obstacles (rivers, and lakes) mean you have to play quite smart. will definitely be back for another round or 2 in the future.

Portaferry Presbyterian Church still does Sunday morning services, but since 2016 has doubled up as a cultural centre with the title "Portico of Ards". The pipe organ is a magnificent instrument and is worth going out of your way to see, hear and appreciate. Organ concerts are held from time to time. The acoustics are impressive. Upstairs in the gallery you can find a display highlighting different aspects of local history. The entry points need to be better highlighted for visitors coming from out of town. When I came to an organ concert in the summer of 2022 it took me some time to find an open door. The concert however, was well worth the effort.

A fantastic Aquarium!!! We have seen some good ones but this is really good!!
Lots of space to take time to view fish, sharks, tropical fish, penquins & a crocodile. With friendly staff it is a super day trip. With a restaurant/ licensed on site and a gift shop, a perfect place to visit with family.
