Thrangu Tashi Yangtse is a very impressive monastery which continues to develop with new chortens and statues (it is evedintly well-funded).

The monastery complex is spread over the hillside, above Namobuddha Stupa, and there are quite a few steps. The main entrance is near the monastery-owned cafe (good value food and drinks).

There are a number of shrine rooms and the main one is the most impressive; it is large and very colourfully decorated with large rupas at the front. The morning puja is quite an experience; intensely energetic if not too loud for some visitors. It is open for quieter reflection and meditation for some of the time between pujas but not all the time because it may e closed for private pujas, cleaning or when there is nobody to supervise.

The other two (I think) have more restrictive opening times so if visiting for the day, there is no guarantee these will be open. This can be frustrating for some visitors but this shrine rooms are not always open at other monasteries either, including Kopan which is probably the most open and accessible gompa in Kathmandu.

Some of the areas of monastery grounds are closed to visitors but the chortens, statues and other shrines are. The closed areas are clearly signposted. It's worth noting that the requirement to dress modestly is enforced and those not conforming may be offered a monk's robe to cover up in the shrine rooms (or possibly refused entry).

There is much to see and experience here and the views of the surrounding countryside (if the weather cooperates) so it worth more than just a couple of hours in a rushed day trip from Kathmandu. Together with Namobuddha Stupa it's definitely worth spending a full day here; staying overnight means dawn at and/or dusk at the Stupa, as well as early morning puja at the gompa.

The hill has a perfect view over the mountains. Nice place on top of a stone, that is part of the ceremonies in the temple.
The temple itself is not so interesting.

A nice short walk from a small Dolalghat town located between Indrawati and Sunkoshi rivers through a newly carved dirt road. A bit of warning though: since it's an uphill road, depending on ones physical condition, it may take much longer for some people. From the Saping Siddhi Ganesh Temple you get great views of surrounding villages, with steeply terraced rice-fields and homesteads. A part of the Himalayan mountains can also been seen.
The temple itself is very nice, with all the deities that villagers wish to warship. It is interesting to know that it was built just before that dirt road reached the village, so transport logistics must have been a nightmare. It looks like a sparsely populated area, but local people are very friendly and curious. As you wonder around, sometimes you might meet young men who lived in the cities or foreign countries, and learn about their stories, including that of their village. It appears those who can earn a bit better elsewhere try to settle in the cities or foreign countries, but some are also helping their village and villagers. During small talks the people proudly mentioned their relative, who took a bold step to build such a nice temple for them. Indeed, Saping Siddhi Ganesh Temple, is well constructed to last for centuries. From the temple, you can also visit other villages or if you really want, you can also walk further up north to Mulkharka Bhimsenthan, which is also within Saping. Although it's on the highest point, it's not as interesting as  Saping Siddhi Ganesh Temple, and it's also in the middle of the forest. Unless you want to stay like the locals in Saping, a better option for some kind of a hotel room is only returning back to Dolalghat town. In short, it's a worth visiting Saping Siddhi Ganesh Templebecause it takes only 3 hours by local bus from Kathmandu to make a memorable hiking trip.

This retreat, set against the majestic Green Hills, offers a serene environment perfect for yoga and reflection. Guru's knowledge and hospitality make it a fulfilling experience. I left not only rejuvenated but also with new friends and unforgettable memories.
