I had a perfect day. I was picked up at my hotel and Noela and I went to the market to buy the ingredients we needed. It was busy and good to see the local ways. We then drove to Materuni Village where we prepared and cooked four dishes. The women in the village made me very welcome and it was a lovely experience. I would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone. At the end of cooking you sit down and eat your meal that you cooked.

A fantastic day in a mountain village

Materuni Waterfalls is a breathtaking escape into the heart of Tanzania's natural and cultural beauty. The short hike to the falls takes you through vibrant coffee farms, lush rainforests, and picturesque views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The towering waterfall, surrounded by rich greenery, is truly a sight to behold, and the cool mist is refreshingly rejuvenating.

After the hike, the coffee tour is an unforgettable experience. Guided by the friendly Chagga community, you’ll learn the traditional art of coffee-making, from handpicking to roasting and brewing. The lively songs and warm atmosphere make it a joyous process, culminating in the reward of a perfectly brewed, aromatic cup of coffee.

Materuni is the perfect blend of adventure, tranquility, and culture. Whether you're a nature lover or a coffee enthusiast, this experience will leave you inspired and refreshed!

Actually this trip to the waterfall was part of a package trip. The coffee plantation was on the way to the waterfall. 2 days later I was asked for $80.00 to cover the coffee plantation visit, as was another in person in the group. This was a surprise to both of us. Now t I see in the posting that the waterfall and coffee plantation visit total is $70. I feel cheated for not being told upfront of the extra change now by seeing the add for both $70 Hmmm
It was a wonderful experience but I do feel taken advantage of.

Excellent tour which started with greetings from Filex, we travelled to the location outside of Moshi and I was made aware of places of interest. Had a great welcome by the people who would show me the traditional methods of coffee making. Everybody was friendly, willing to share information and answer questions. I got a tour of the grounds and I also visited Materuni waterfall. Highly recommended this experience, you won't be disappointed. Thanks!

Highly recommend this experience! We had so much fun at the market and learning how to cook traditional food with William, his mother and her friends. We were made to feel part of the family. And the food was excellent! I’m planning to do the millet tamarind porridge myself. William was warm and friendly and we had great chats about the food, Moshi and general life with him.
