Ahu Tongariki
#1 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
Take your time at this site - best to visit during the day and return for sunrise, two very different experiences, and go with a local guide their insight into the history of Rapa Nui and the culture is priceless.
Ahu Tongariki was one of the highlights of our trip: an amazing site on an amazing and unique island.

Rano Raraku
#2 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
If you can mountain bike it you will greatly appreciate the beauty and wonders of this fabulous site because you will be able to feel the natural landscapes while you reaching nearer to the volcano crater where it...
Lush green hills dotted with Moai, the magnificent stone mountain in the background, as well as incredible views of the coast from the site make this a sensory overload.

Orongo
#3 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
This is a sacred landscape and archeological site, with the incredible extinct volcano full of unique species, that catches and reflects the rays of the sun in the early moring to midday.
The volcano, the crater and the ceremonial sites that you find gere are just awesome, you can see the blue waters of the pacific and a whole panoramic of Easter sland, Hanga Roa, and the airport Mataveri.

Ahu Tahai
#4 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
It's a short walk toward the northwestern part of Hanga Roa to the site, nestled north of the cemetery and south of the museum.
You can feel a special energy if you just sit still; it is like a symphony with the sound of the waves, and the wind in your face while your eyes look at this magnificent view.

Ahu Nau Nau
#5 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
Super nice moai site on Easter Island surrounded by golden sand, waving grasses, palm trees, and aquamarine seascape.
Recommend arriving early to get the best view of the petroglyphs before the strong afternoon sun.

Ahu Akivi
#6 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
Whilst Ahu Akivi might be less spectacular than Tongariki or Nau Nau, it is still an important archeological site and a must-see when visiting Easter Island.
As always, make sure you bring your own water and snacks when visiting the sites on Easter Island.

Amazing walking with great views around!))
The reward for the hike to the top: a spectacular 360° landscape view.
Ahu Akahanga Hanga Roa
#8 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
I went to every possible site -- love the statues, love the stories, love the mystery.
i recommend a guided tour of the island overall to get good explanations of the sites etc. Reading a book and doing it on your own to me would take away from some of the experiences and discussions to be had.

Ahu Vaihu Hanga Roa
#10 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
It’s surrounded by a bucolic nature as all Easter Island archeological sites, when you enter you see a lovely little bay of black rocks on your right and the fallen Moais on a top position over the ocean.
Very peaceful site Free access

Ahu Vinapu
#11 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
Ahu Vinapu is a wonderful site at the east end of the airport where you can something more than on the other unrestored Ahus: the talent and perfection of the old islanders in buying stone platforms for the Moai.
A great example of primitive stonemasonry, Ahu Vinapu have the remains of five moai in Rapa Nui National Park, a World Heritage Site

Puna Pau Hanga Roa
#12 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
It is in the top of a very high place in Easter Island and from there you can see a breathtaking view of the Island and specially of the city of Hanga Roa.
This site is quiet and relaxing, from the top of it there’s beautiful view on the valleys around it, in a clear day you can see up to Hanga Roa and the ocean.

Cementerio de Isla de Pascua Hanga Roa
#13 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
The cemetery is right in the center of town and is a stunning site.
The cemetery is located by the ocean with beautiful views and moai nearby.
Ahu Te Pito Kura
#14 of 24 Sights & Landmarks in Easter Island
As we explored Easter Island there were so many cultural sites that at time our heads were spinning.
Te Pito Kura is a relatively small site very near the ocean.
