    Lovely place, staff and food.😃
Shame about state of the coffee grounds drawer which obviously gets splashed with drips when emptying out the grounds and down drawer, put us off, the thought it looked so dirty. Nothing a good clean wouldn't fix and with 5x staff waiting about for customers, someone could be cleaning it.☹️

We set out to visit the tower on our way home from a short break to Eyemouth. Once we got on the right road to find the signposts it was easy to find, albeit the track was narrow. We hadn't checked to see if it was open but struck lucky. The approach from the car park isn't very direct and the waymarkers were a little overgrown, but we were close enough to see the tower so no problem. The informative display on the ground floor and mezzanine were excellent, and the guide was pleasant, polite and happy to answer any questions we had.

The spiral stone staircase was daunting but well worth climbing, as the figurines on the other three floors telling the story of Sir Walter Scott and his work with Scottish fables were exquisitely beautiful. The view from the top was breathtaking. We got a real sense of how difficult life was in the area in the past, but it must have been very cosy and secure inside. Would definitely visit again. Not suitable for those with mobility issues as the approach path is rough.

I’m from Yorkshire, and it’s always nice to pop up further north and link together a few race meetings and stay over for a few nights. Unfortunately the governing body of fixtures now have other ideas!
In the past you could link Kelso, Hexham, Sedgefield on three consecutive days, but unfortunately no more.
Kelso is a wonderful track, very hospitable and with lovely views , it has to go down as one of my favourite tracks.
It is compact, so please consider this. The parade ring is behind the grandstand, and so are the bookies, but this doesn’t deter from a great day, or evening out!

I was staying at Edham Hall hotel, and had a wonderful view across the river of the show ground.
The following morning I made a point of walking down to it.
A very spacious area which offers great facilities, I was very impressed.

Sadly we can't go inside the grounds to get conkers but never mind. This would've look nice if it wasn't destroyed, it still looks good though.

We visited the gallery on a recent trip to the Scottish Borders area. There was a beautiful assortment of pieces, from pottery, to paintings, to prints, and to woodwork. We met the potter and painter and she gave us a demo. Such a wonderfully kind person.

This is a nice little church which looks a bit different in a good way. The oddness of this church makes me really like it.

Mixture of stalls selling a variety of food stuffs, drinks and crafts. There's a regular cake lady whose cakes, traybakes and brownies are lovely. However her scones are the best. Advertised regular online.

Roe deer from the Rutherford estate and cooked at Seasons Gattonside, is truly superb. It was melt in the mouth perfect. Cooked to perfection but made and bred locally by Jonny. Excellent.

Spent quite a few hours on a breezy Saturday. We are regulars at many different fairs, this was the first time at this one. It is very busy with everything you can imagine for sale. Ranging from lofts people were clearing to the more serious seller to whom this is a business. There are enthusiastic amateurs as well. The prices start quite high and can normally be bartered down. Not like the telly and don't expect to get 50% off the asking price.
The snack bar is busy and struggles to accommodate the number of people all wanting food at lunch times, so be patient. I only had a coffee and a scone so cannot vouch for the quality of the hot food for sale.
All in all it was good fun and would go back next time we are in the area.

We were walking along the riverside walk when we came across the ruins of Roxburgh castle. There is an information point about it along the riverside walk but to get to the ruins themselves you have to clamber up the extremely steep slope, which only has a rough path made from other walkers doing the same thing. It’s such a fascinating area and the English / Scottish battles that were fought here over a 450 year period must have been phenomenal. It’s such a shame that the castle is being left to ruin. More could be made of this. It’s an important part of the borders history, I think it could be better looked after.

I was looking for the tourist information on a recent trip to Kelso. One of the locals thought this had moved to the library - sadly, there no longer is a tourist information in Kelso. A lady from the council was very helpful though re places to see in the area.

Excellent Service, and captured our dog perfectly in charcoals.
Why worry with a timescale, as long as the end result is true to
the subject. Had seen previous work before, perfect service.

My first visit to this Alpaca farm and was greeted by the friendly owner ( Lynn) , I was with my partner and we fed and meet the Alpacas who were all adorable and friendly. We were given a safety talk and how to handle the Alpacas, my partner paid for an hour walk which is £20 per person to walk an Alpaca. Lynn was very friendly and knowledgeable and the Alpacas behaved themselves. There is also a small shop which sells drinks / ice cream and other local produced products. I would certainly visit as a good day out .
