I was visiting India recently from USA and took out time for a short trip to Kerala. I was with my family of five, and took the help of Sree Tours to book a fantastic experience.
Here was our itinerary of 5 nights, 6 days
Kochi airport (land)
-> Alleppey (resort 1 night)
-> Kumarakom (houseboat 1 night)
-> Munnar (3 nights)
-> Kochi airport (depart)
Our journey began at the Konda Lip backwaters heritage resort and continued on to the Palazhi houseboat, both of which were beautifully presented and provided a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Chef Nithin & rest of the houseboat staff were super accommodating. The Kerala food served deserves 5 stars!
Next we visited the tea gardens in Munnar. The tea plantations were so well-maintained, providing a perfect backdrop for our vacation photos. We stayed in Aranyaka resort which had lovely views of the Attukkad waterfalls from the room. My teenage daughter & I did a guided hike on the mountains - highly recommended if you want to see Munnar via the off beaten path. It was tough (but highly enjoyable) for me, so I suggest doing it if you are decently fit.
The real hero of our trip, however, was our driver George Jacob who stayed with us throughout the journey. An expert driver, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make our journey smooth and enjoyable. He made sure we reached our destinations on time, recommended local restaurants/shows/spas, helped us with our bags and made my family feel very welcome. Thank you George for your hospitality!
