What travellers are saying
- Emily K30 contributionsGreat spot with tons of options. There's paid trails for more specific views and harder trails but also free options for some great views of the falls. Clean and well kept and very accessible for everyone. Most of the trail to the falls was paved and shaded. Very relaxing stroll to a great view. Clean bathrooms at the start of the trails.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Warren S5 contributionsExcellent trip that will bring you up close to nature. Highly recommended. - LLiberty4Austin, TX27 contributionsThe Tram ticket was part of my Mendenhall Glacier tour. There was not a guide, just a ticket to go when you can. The Tram is right by the port where the Majestic Princess docks. The ride up was fun. Great views from the top. There is a coffee shop and a store. As well as a museum and a movie. I did not see the video. There is a 2 mile trail loop at the top of this mountain. Some interesting Totem poles too. Great views. If you have time I would recommend it. Especially if you like hiking around in the woods looking for bears!Written 25 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Catharine SCary, NC50 contributionsWe took three trails on our visit yesterday. Photo Point trail was crowded with cruise visitors, but definitely offered the promised photo angles for the glacier. Nugget Falls trail is about a mile long one way and takes you right to the foot of this powerful waterfall. My personal favorite was the much longer and tougher East Glacier Trail, which wound up, up, up through the Tongass. This trail does not offer big views of the waterfall, but there were lots of little treats along the way. Nice way to spend our day in Juneau.Written 5 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sagardipHouston, TX189 contributionsVery easy walk from Mendenhall Glacier Visior Center. Water fall is so beautiful, nice that you can not stop to take pictures. Water is cold as coming directly from Glacier.Written 15 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- vox69nnMedina, OH2,259 contributionsGood museum, sensibly laid out and exhibits well presented. You get the history of Alaska from the earliest natives through the Russian occupation and to the acquisition by the US and subsequent development (not always so respectful of culture and environment) Architecture well designed and consistent with the message.Written 1 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - daryl aMadison, WI6 contributionsIt is not an easy hike, but worth the effort! Lots of great views of the surroundings and spectacular view at the summit. We did take the tram down.Written 15 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- crissanne m1 contributionWe had originally booked with another whale watching tour but they had boat problems. They hooked us up with Allen from lighthouse tours. Allen and his crew Sam and Megan not only accommodated us but went above and beyond to make sure our trip was spectacular. We saw porpoises, whales, sea lions and much more. - Ashley BurchfieldTuscumbia, AL40 contributionsBeautiful place … a true labor of love as the owner has to transplant the plants into the greenhouse every winter and replant them every spring. The upside down trees are especially imaginative. Your guide takes you in a cart through the forest providing nature education along the way. The view at the top is spectacular. Sone of the plants are not native to the area and the same as what we grow at home in Alabama, but overall it was a lovely experience.Written 10 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan P3 contributionsA lovely spot, away from the city. It's quiet and beautiful with a fine garden and chapel. Since it's north of Juneau, it will require a rental car to reach.Written 1 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tara MVancouver, Canada10 contributionsIt is well worth it to get on a smaller boat to head into the Tracy Arm fjord. The twin Sawyer glaciers were stunning and truly the entire excursion was incredible. Wildlife and so many waterfalls and icebergs… Probably one of the favourite things I’ve done in Alaska.Written 2 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ana H1 contributionGreat place to visit. Especially if you’ve never been involved or know much about mining. Great explanations and you even have the chance to look for gold! All staff are super friendly, the owner was on site and she was super nice and friendly too. Definitely worth going.Written 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
