What a great experience! On the drive to Tortuguero we saw a sloth hanging on a utility wire, and because the bus was up high, we were right at the level of the sloth. Amazing! Francisco was our guide on the bus, and he is very knowledgeable. While in Tortuguero Marco was our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, also. He made it fun, and he was very supportive and helpful. We stayed at Pachira Lodge. Our room was very simple, without glass in the windows, which sounds weird--but was actually lovely and quite comfortable with the breeze blowing in and the ceiling fan at work. Being in the middle of the rainforest was an amazing experience. To be honest, we were hoping to see more animals while in Tortuguero than we did, but perhaps January isn't the best time of year to view them? The food at the lodge was edible, but I would not recommend the experience for the food.
