The Long Museums are confusing as there are TWO, one on Pudong side and the other on the old Bund side of Shanghai, labelled “Xi’an”.

There are world class special exhibitions and a very good, well-curated exhibition on Chinese realist art. The labeling has some English translation but help from a Chinese speaker is useful.

But good heavens it expensive by Chinese standards — compared to typical admission fees of 40 CNY, Long Museum is 250 CNY more than $40 per person.

Of the many fantastic galleries in M50, I was specifically touched by LWH Gallery. The art there was outstanding. Several pieces kept my glance for a very long time, most of all the work of Chatchawan Rodklongtan. The way the owner (I guess he was the owner?) of the gallery told us the story behind the artwork was also inspiring. He really took his time for all our questions and didn't mind that I just kept staring at the artwork. Thanks you very much for introducing me to your world of art.

When in Shanghai, this building is a must see. The outside wall will move and it is spectacular view. After that, you can walk to the bund.

A nice location set-up perfectly for visitors and for artists. Clean, simple, and easy to navigate. Lovely book store on the 2nd floor. Interesting saltwater fish tank,. Several types of art to choose from. Framing options galore. The other building has "things" and is worth a walk thru. There is a gallery on site. Plenty of places to eat across the street. A nice afternoon "thing to do". Your length of time will depend on how many shops are open.

Went here for a specific exhibition and was amazed by the space available and the set up - even a pop-up Starbucks inside. Note the the “Tanks” are close by, as well as a shopping Centre with good food, close by

There was no permanent collection on display here, so your experience will depend on what is showing. I enjoyed the photography of Karen Knorr and Anna Fox (Another Way of Telling) and that made it thoroughly worth the trip.

But the Center is tiny, so you may find RMB40 overpriced for two small rooms of photos. It will probably take you less than 30 minutes to view everything even if you are moving slowly. There is a library room, and I found a book of photos by Shanghai photographer Maleonn that absorbed me for quite a while, so I spent about an hour here.

The Center is in an interesting area. It's another of Shanghai's "creative zones", housing creative businesses. It was quiet when I was there and the main building in the zone was not hosting any exhibition. West Bund Bistro 2555, nearby, makes good coffee and has wifi.

There always seems to be something interesting on exhibit here. It's far and away the most consistently good gallery for new photography by local and foreign artists. The gallery offers exhibits of excellent new photographers as well as experienced photo-journalists, and surprisingly large collection of good catalogs. Gallery talks and opening events are always pleasant. Get on their email list so that you know about openings.

Very nice half day to see the painter village, 1 hour far from Shanghai(entrance fee). Farmers families selling their paintings (good price for hand paintings). Most of the time representing the country side way of life.

Xing Art Space is located the famous area Tianzifang which is the most attractive culture leisure area in Central Huang Pu district .Around 20 years ago Chinese famous artist Chen Yifei selected his oil painting Studio in an old factory workshop of neighborhood factories. Since then this area attracts so many galleries and recently there are much more coffee shops, bars, arts and crafits shops etc .are coming in this traditional local style :" ShiKuMeng" Lane House blocks.
Xing Art space is a very unique gallery ,Founder of Xing has high passion to promote young artists ,among of them are Geng Duan, Ju Hui Qing ,Chen Yun, Zheng Jin ze , Joyce Pang ,... From my point of view most of these artists have high potentials in their future art career as their some master pieces have been chosen in many art exhibition in China.
it is worth of you to visit there when you visit down Shanghai if you like arts and Painting.
The Founder Xing who was the senior VP of global company for high technologies for many years, but with his blood of art from younger time ,he has been making his dream to run such wonderful gallery.

Its rare to find a public photolab nowadays, had a nice chat with one of the owner, they provide short workshops on analog photography and yes, including how to develop your film.

I wished I had more time during stay in Shanghai. Would love to go back there again.

Excellent show. We spent half day over the nice and quiet place. There are a few contemporary museums around and worth spending a whole afternoon. That area is newly developed and is quite a walking distance from the subway. Grabing a cab back would be a problem without the proper app. Of course you can ask for help to hail a cab from the locals.
