The majestic white marble of the monument gleams under the sun. Intricate carvings adorn its surface, telling silent stories of the past. It stands as a timeless symbol of history and heritage.

Devotional place to visit with family. The temple court yard is vast and well decorated and organised. We enjoy there very much and spent almost 4 hours. Ghat of Ganges river is a beautiful place where one can view the scenic beauty of MA GANGA. Food court is awsome.

There is lots and lots to read about Mother Teresa and the continuing work of the sisters. I didn't realize that there are about 4500 of them.
It was interesting to read of their tireless work with the sick and needy people of Kolkata.
    Worth the stop

This used to be THE street in Calcutta. While it’s now very crowded and over trafficked, it still has a number of excellent restaurants and eateries.
Crossing it, however, is another thing. Vehicles don’t pause for pedestrians and there are few walk signals. On some days, none.
If you cross this street in peak hour unscathed, you’ve won.

I visited Eden Gardens in November 2023 with my younger brother and cousin to watch the Bangladesh vs. Pakistan T20 World Cup match, and it was an experience of a lifetime! The stadium, known as the “Mecca of Indian cricket,” has an atmosphere like no other. The crowd’s energy was incredible, and being surrounded by thousands of passionate fans made it even more thrilling.

This has special memories for ex residents, perhaps too crowded for tourists. It used to have everything and was extremely affordable. Food, cakes, coffee shops, an ice cream parlour, clothes, shoes, flowers, even fresh meat.
It’s a shadow of its previous life and much more crowded.
    Only for the brave.

Located opposite Assembly of God Church School near Park Street and AJC Bose Road crossing near Mullickbazar area, this old Christian Burial Ground was opened in 1767 and officially closed in 1790 though burial continued till 1830. It was used mainly for the East India Company officers and other European visitors coming to India and their family members.  Number of these British and other Europeans died at an early age due to the excessive heat and infectious diseases like cholera, malaria, flu and small pox.
We visited this heritage place on a sunny winter morning in December. The tickets are available at the gate and the visitors need to put their names and mobile number at a  register with entry time recorded. Once we entered the gate nice curated quabbled walkways leading to the graves with varieties of obelisk can be seen. The interior is well maintained with trees, curated bushes and flower trees all around. You can feel the period of 18th century everywhere. The graves bears the names of the departed souls, their divisions and designation, age, date .of birth and demise. It gives pain once you notice that the average age of those buried there are as low as below thirties. This indicates the horrible living conditions these young men had to face to die so early. The oldest date of burial that we could notice was in 1768 and the latest one in 1821. The noted personalities buried here includes the pioneer of Young Bengal Movement,  Henry Louis Vivian Dirozio (died in 1831) and noted scholar and Founder of Asiatic Society, Sir William Jhones (died in 1794). The large and  white tomb of William Jones cab be found on the right hand once you walk about 50 metres on the straight pathway. Dirozio's grave and tomb is located on the extreme right row. It has a small marble bust. You can spend few quite  hours inside that will give you a kind of time travel to Colonial Calcutta of the 18th century
    A great place to visit.

This was an interesting place to visit.
We love books, and I think if you can't find the book you want, they don't print it. lol
We roamed quite a few of the books stores that you could actually go into.
No pressure wandering around the stores, or outside stalls for that matter.
We did end up buying some books too.
Great way to spend some time.
