We ,a family of 4 ,had a fantastic experyof the the queen of hills... Darjeeling.... Enjoyed every bit of it, though becoz of novomi puja we had been stuck in traffic for a few hours.. But the before and after activities we had , almost made up for the time loss.... Our driver, MAMA, as he is best known among all, had a big hand in our trip's experience.. I will very mch recommend him to all my fellow travellers.. Had stayed in viceroy hotel.. Near mall road.. All staffs very friendly, especially, Mr ARINDAM... He was very friendly and caring.. Overall enjoyed very mch..

The zoo in Darjeeling is one of the main attractions and this there was a huge line to get its tickets. We managed to get ours soon as we reached just at lunch time. The zoo has several rare animals like the red panda, snow leopard, black panther, white wolf, etc and is a delight to watch them roam around especially for children. Should not be missed when in Darjeeling.

We were taken up Tiger Hill as part of our India tour, stating off from the hotel in Darjeeling at 03.30 am. It was a long wait in the cold to see the sun rise. When it did happen we were lucky that it was very clear and the sun shining on the Himalayas was quite spectacular.
At that time in the morning we were some of the first to arrive and could choose our places in the stand area. By the time of the sunrise the place was very busy.
If you're coming by your own transport it's a good idea to park it along the exit road - the car parks are filled bumper to bumper and it must take a very long while getting away.

We visited the loop through the toy train and I would recommend that as a better option when compared with going by car as there tends to be huge jams around the point. The place is beautiful with a memorial for our soldiers and several small shop keepers selling their wares around it. Watching the train loop around is a wonderful experience.

We visited Lamahatta on the way when going from Kalimpong to Darjeeling. The place has beautiful flowers and pine trees all around it which provides several photogenic points. There is a watch tower and pond also inside the park but we did not go all the way up.

Museum delves deep into the evolution and existence of Tibet and the present status. Curated for everyone to have a look at Tibetan art and culture, the museum offers a significant lot. Located very close to the mall, it is a hidden gem. Highly recommended !

The best thing to do in Darjeeling is get up early morning and take a stroll around the observatory hill. The viewpoint is bustling with energy - all tourists crowded there to get a view of the Kanchanjunga and the locals on their daily morning walk and exercise routine. Tea/coffee vendors are also there in the morning, allowing you to enjoy a sip of hot drink.

Beautiful gardens and waterfall right in the mountains on the outskirts of Darjeeling, despite the very steep/unsafe roads to & from there (was even a landslide towards the bottom). My only problem with the area was that there was some litter left on the roadside near the waterfall but otherwise, was such a stunning area.
