It is one of the more cleaner beaches in Chennai. The stalls are on the beach spreading dirt and waste produced is spread on the beach. The people throw the paper wrappers etc on the pavements, roads inspite of dustbins placed for the same.
Most of the cafes in and around the beach are very small.

Located on the seaside in Besant Nagar, this clean and peaceful temple has shrines for all six abodes of Lord Muruga (Kartik). The temple is generally not too crowded and is very convenient for the elderly or differently abled

The new church, located adjacent to the existing one in Besant Nagar, is a beautiful church with exquisite Gothic architecture. One needs to climb quite a few steps to enter the church. There is sufficient parking within the premises. We did not find much crowd at the time of our visit. Definitely worth visiting

This is perhaps the first proper temple in Besant Nagar. Earlier, the temple was not particularly well maintained. However, in the last few years, it has undergone a major positive transformation. It has been renovated, is maintained extremely well and has an excellent religious atmosphere. An interesting sidelight is the girl who looks after the footwear of the devotees just outside the temple. She is one of the most customer-friendly persons that I have ever come across.

Stumbled across Maal Gaadi during a Sunday visit to Elliot's Beach. I could have bought half the items in the shop. I ended up restraining myself though and made one purchase - a very unique body harness from designer Vitasta. Such an eclectic range of clothes, accessories, homewares and even artisan chocolate. Only improvement that could be made is available sizes - seemed that most items were one-size-fits-all, which in this day and age, where we celebrate all shapes and sizes, seems very old fashioned.
