We had a lovely time learning about South Indian cooking from Meena. She was so warm and welcoming, sharing lovely rose milk (my kids LOVED it) and taking us to a local grocery store to buy supplies for our trip home. Back in her apartment, she helped us create multiple dishes: roti, dosa, paneer curry, mint rice, and cilantro chutney. I was able to write down the recipes as we went, and she gave my daughters tasks to do in the space. At the end, we shared a meal -- so yummy. Best of all was hearing her story and being in her space. Highly recommend!

I had an incredible experience with Sirvidya’s private vegetarian cooking class in Chennai! The one-on-one guidance was exceptional, and I learned to make delicious South Indian dishes using fresh ingredients and traditional techniques.

What made the experience even more special was Sirvidya’s help in finding unique ingredients at the end of the class, so I could take them home and recreate the dishes. A must-do for anyone looking to dive into authentic South Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!

Kamala curated a wonderful experience for me. She is the most gracious host. Her knowledge of Chettinad cuisine and culture is beyond compare. She worked with my dietary restrictions to craft a lovely menu and spent the time to answer all my questions.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn about Chettinad cooking!

Wow! Amazing hospitality, We learned recipes and got to do hands-on supervised cooking on three dishes. And, we could elect the level of chile we cooked with, from USA our tourist heat tolerance is milder than South India's love of chile. The many other spices layered under the heat are wonderful.

On arrival, our host took us on a car tour of a local shrine, the beach front, and a bustling outside vegetable market identifying unfamiliar fruits, vegetables, spices, and lentils.

Back home, we were greeted by a friendly yellow lab! We visited, then adjourned to the kitchen, making three dishes. What fun. We learned a lot!

    Highly recommend this experience.

Srividya was very friendly and attentive. She explained in detail every step of her preparation. She only used fresh, homemade products. The meal that followed was a very appreciated moment of sharing with her and his son.Thank you.

    My first cooking class.
Our host family welcomed us warmly.
The house was very nice and clean.

During the lesson, we learned the requested sambar, rasam, vada, and carrot pickle.
The recipe she gave me was simple but delicious.

After the lesson, we ate the food we had cooked together with our host families.
He was a kind teacher who talked to us a lot even though we were not good at English and taught us until we understood it.
The teacher is a very reliable person.

Thank you for a good time.

If you want to have fun and be in good hands in the kitchen, Jyashree Rajagopal is the best choice. Her experience and expertise is impeccable and her knowledge and confidence in Indian food is amazing. She pays attention to your favourites and can very clearly explain the specifics of each local dish. Her family and home are heartwarming, as is the environment in which she lives. She teaches and encourages excellently while you cook. In addition to the food prepared together, she also serves a full set of lunch with a variety of vegan dishes. Moreover, she and her husband are excellent conversation partners.

Making korma, dosa and coconut rice are learned and practiced with a playful ease.
