- AMsaysThornhill, Canada5,034 contributionsTranslated it means “Water Palace”, but originally built 225 years ago as a hunting lodge for royalty in stunning pink and red sandstone. The palace's outstanding symmetry when viewed from the banks of the Man Sagar Lake appears to be on only 1 floor. In fact, there are 4 floor underneath that have been preserved due to the remarkable technology, innovative design and unique lime mortar used to prevent seepage back then. The lake is very serene, and I saw many species of birds flying around. Apparently at one time, 150 different bird species made this a stop on their migration paths. Unfortunately, it was closed due to some maintenance issues, so my only view was from the riverbanks...Written 30 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mobile241159155571 contributionThe temple is one the most beautiful temples in Jaipur city. The temple is dedicated to the deities Lakshmi and Narayana, the divine powers in hindu religion. The environment of the temple is peaceful and serene and is quite suitable for people to visit anytime safely. The architecture is magnificent and is made mostly of white marbel, which shows traditional elements and tranquility. The temple is constructed on a particular height to provide visiters with great views from the temple. The sunets and sunrises from the temple look stunning.Written 16 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shraddha1 contributionAn expansive and impressive collection of both contemporary and traditional art. There was a wide array of paintings and wall art to choose from and the people there were patient and helpful with finding things. The owner, Rohit was knowledgeable, helpful and very generous. He was kind enough to give us a tour of the collections and was very accommodating to our needs. Prices vary in a wide range for those who have different budgets. Highly recommend going for an overall pleasant and satisfying shopping experience.Written 8 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JdsilvermanSt. Albans, UK93 contributionsWe had a spare hour or so and decided to head to Monkey Temple. There were some poor reviews so we were concerned but we really enjoyed our visit. It's an intriguing place. We were blessed by a monk in a small ritual, albeit he did ask for a 'donation', but since there is no entry fee, we didn't mind at all.
The monkeys were not aggressive, and there were not too many hawkers. It is somewhat dilapidated, but that shouldn't put you off. It's worth a trip if you have time.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We ended up having fun and buying some really nice stuff at very reasonable prices.Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is a beautiful 16th century yellow-colored stepwell that lies in the shadow of the famous Amber fortress. Many are unaware that just next to the massive castle lies a yellow-colored stepwell, built in the 16th century. This step well was apparently a resting place for travelers, business people and saints. Also women came to fill their water pots here in the past. Panna Meena ka Kund is a square-shaped stepwell, with adjoining stairs on all four sides and a room on the northern wall. It’s believed this room was used for religious ceremonies before weddings or on popular festival dates.Written 31 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VIPIN_GOEL_TP_ImpexNew Delhi, India8,278 contributionsJohari Bazaar, a must visit market, located near Hawa Mahal is a shopper’s paradise in Jaipur. The word ‘Johari’ in Hindi means ‘Jeweller’, so the name describes itself. The market is lined with hundreds of shops that deal with exclusive jewellery and artefacts representing the rich Rajasthani culture and craftsmanship of the city. Not only jewellery, it is also an ideal place to shop for lehengas, exquisite Mojari’s or Jutis (leather sandals), and sarees in colourful Bandhej and glittering stonework or gemstones. We went there to buy lahengas, bed sheets, gift items, souvenirs, shawls etc. After moving in different streets we were able to find the most to our satisfaction. Even if you are there not to buy anything, the market will tempt you to buy something. If you feel tired and dry, do not forget to have Shikanjee or Sugar Cane Juice. One can try local snacks also.Written 30 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FHTR In RajasthanJaipur, India259 contributionsGaltaji Temple near Jaipur is history with a twist! This ancient complex carved into the Aravalli hills is like an Indiana Jones adventure coming to life. Monkeys swing from the rooftops, colourful prayer flags flutter in the breeze, and the views are simply stunning.
Exploring the temples feels like stepping back in time. Intricate carvings, hidden shrines, and natural caves whisper stories of saints and pilgrims.
