What travellers are saying
- Yuvraj KakadeTalegaon, India21 contributionsIt's a historical monument of Jaipur, Rajasthan, well maintained and kept clean. I absolutely loved this place, definitely recommend visiting once. The architecture of this fort from inside out is just awesome. The deewan-e-aam, Sheesh mahal, Holi chowk, bardari, queens rooms, food making pots all were great to watch. It almost take you to the old era.
You have to take a government approved guide, it's make things easy to you. He also shows you the fort in proper way and sequence.
The only problem here is parking your vehicle.Written 26 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Parking is the biggest hassle- our bus went before 8.30, so as to park nearby, as it's a regular street otherwise, so limited parking spots.
It's the beauty of the building that makes it worth seeing. Learn its history, and appreciate the viewing. It's stunning.Written 6 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JohnRegoParkRego Park, NY1,133 contributionsIn order to keep the lights on, the prince of Rajasthan has opened up his palace for viewing. You pass through spacious courtyards and fanciful open air structures. The building has few areas to hide from the sun, do plan your visit for earlier in the day.Written 4 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - marc r45 contributionsThe fort has a good history , a guide can tell better about it. The fort is home to the biggest cannon which is put in display. The fort also has some exhibits of some of the weapons and items from the past.Written 8 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sanjay TDubai, United Arab Emirates67 contributionsJal Mahal is a Palace in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The palace was constructed in 1699. The building and the lake around it were later renovated and enlarged in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber.
A short distance from the main city, you can see it on the way back from your Amber Fort visit.Written 12 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was spectacularly colorful and exciting. Walk through and up to the temple, everyone was bathing in the holy water. Some monkeys there too. Not sure I eat ok with seeing so many men running around in their under crackers. It's a bit messy but lots of India is. It's a long way out and it took a while due to three processions on the way there but worth it.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Haggis_SupperBeaumaris, Australia722 contributionsThe Royal Gaitor Tumbas (also known as Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan in Hindi) is exactly as it sounds - a tomb for many maharajas and definitely one of the best places to visit in Jaipur. We’re just somewhat surprised this isn’t in the top five things to see in Jaipur.
It’s situated beneath the Nahargarh Fort nestled among the narrow side streets, away from the chaos that exists in Jaipur so it’s a relief when we step inside and find serenity and some beautiful architecture. We arrived around 10am, spent about 40 minutes and pretty much had the place to ourselves - just a couple of tourists arriving as we left.
It houses several tombs and mausoleums of the entire Kacchhawa dynasty that ruled over Jaipur from 1727 AD to 1947 AD. The place has been well maintained, is clean and deserves the reputation of being one of the most beautifully constructed and maintained royal cenotaphs in Rajasthan.
As you walk towards what you believe is the back, keep going and wander off to the right as there is another section to see.
We had a guide with us this day, which we were grateful for. On the day/time that we arrived, there were no ‘guides’ offering their services. That said, if you do some online research, you can find enough information.

We spent the afternoon at Rusirani Village with Giri, his wife Pinkie and their very cute son David. It was an excellent way to get an insight to rural life in India. The village was quite empty when we were there which is unusual apparently but most people were out working. It did give us the chance to talk at length to Giri though and hear about his journey from living as a child in the village to working for an NGO and his desire to ‘give back’. He answered hundreds of our questions relating to issues around rural life and girls’ education. It was lovely sitting and watching the village children play and we spent some time sitting with Pinkie and our family host watching them cooking for us. This project has enabled 17 girls from the village to attend university over the past 10 years which is absolutely amazing. We met one of the village girls who is hoping to go in the next year or two. After a lovely meal we visited the nearby temple and ruins which was really interesting. It felt like a privilege to visit and Giri is undoubtedly a good man working to improve the lives of rural communities. Giri’s email is rusirani.village@gmail.com.Written 10 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
