- James12 contributionsBandra Mount Mary Basilica It is a lovely place to visit during Christmas Located on a hill overlooking the Arabian Sea, the church appears particularly lovely when decorated for the holiday. The peaceful ambiance on this site makes it well suited for prayer and contemplation.
Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve is prominent among Christmas celebrations. You know, this is when the beautiful carols fill the church and when the air is alive with the feelings of joy. The basilica is located in an area alive with holiday spirit. You can even jump around happy bazaars where sweets, decorations and crafts are sold to make the celebration even more special.
Christmas at Mount Mary is just Magic – here is a glimpse of it. Inner circuit comprises four lanes of spongy artificial track which is used by the walkers. Outer circuit four metres wide with compacted earth surface and used by the runners and a few of the walkers. Managed 16 laps which GPS had at 6.00 km implying 375 metres per lap. Strava has 0.38 km so I think this is accurate. Sign on gate says open from 5:00am but closed 1:00-3:00 pm. Was there at dawn so can’t confirm whether this is correct. Popular so can get busy. His name is Mr. Bhavya Gala, young guy but very humble and motivated. Will definitely return here on my next visit to India. Inside the shrine you can able to feel the great divine feel with Peaceful & Traquil atmosphere, which is best place for doing meditation. Ramakrishna mission is a global mission doing excellent charity work following Swamiji's words - Serving God is serving humanity. Offered my humble pranams to Holy Trios & visited Sri Sarada devi temple located at first floor. Had a blissful evening at the Mutt.
Must visit place if you are a disciple of Holy Trios.
