She whisked us off ( two couples) for an insider’s gastronomic walking tour. These are the kinds of places only a local would know. Great fun, expertly paced, we were well guided through quaint neighborhood time tested establishments. Cleanliness and public safety were always on POOJA’s radar. Savory dishes we had only seen in guide books! Great locally made cuisine germain to MUMBAI topped of with a visit to a cultural landmark ice cream parlor. 4-6pm, cool of the day ending with the gorgeous city temples and stations lit in dazzling lights. I was anxious about eating the food and being safe but our guide assured us she would only take us to places that were safe and order food that was safe. We tried so many delicious new foods and went to 6 different places. We ate with locals. We also were out and about in Mumbai at night and got a feel for the town. - Rachel2 contributionsWhat a great experience, Javed, was so knowledgeable, kind, funny and caring, he really made sure the group was having a good time. He took us to some great street food places, told us about the food and interesting facts about the area too.
The meet up location was hard to find though, booking through trip advisor it didn't give me the exact location or the guides number, just the name of the station of where to meet and it was a big station! Luckily i ask a few random people and eventually found a group who were on the same tour as me. The staff made necessary arrangements as it was a suprise for my husband and they covered all the inclusions mentioned in the package. In addition to trying a variety of delicious street food, we went on a train ride and visited a temple, a market, a laundry, Hanging Gardens, Chowpatty Beach and Marine Drive. It was an excellent way to cover a lot of ground in southern Mumbai in a short period of time, and get a sense of how people live and work in the city. I would highly recommend doing this tour early in your visit, as it’s a brilliant way to introduce yourself to the city. The energy of the kitchen was lively and I learned so much in such a short period of time. The worst part of this amazing experience was having to leave. I recommend this event if you want to really get a hands on sense of cooking an authentic meal. Chirag speaks good English and is very enthusiastic to get his food tour business going. I liked the idea of starting with a train journey up to Chowpatty beach. Chirag carefully selected the stalls and joined us eating the food. He is willing to answer any questions about the City and is a food lover himself. We definitely went to areas of South Mumbai and tried food we would otherwise not have discovered. We were with a group of 15, which makes it hard to give an interactive cooking class so I would not necessarily recommend it for the size. We learnt about food, spices, cooking techniques, cooking utensils and Indian cuisine and culture. Our taste buds were in overdrive. The smell and taste of each dish was beyond delicious.
A beautiful experience which I can highly recommend.

Our guide Vaibhav Haldipur was knowledgeable and personable. The first day we went to Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the second day to Karnala Bird Sanctuary. With our guide's assistance we sighted 59 birds - 24 were additional "lifers" for us from India - especially appreciated since we had already seen so many new "lifers" on 3 birding tours earlier during our India stay. We alternated sweet and savory delectable with one more flavorful than the rest. The Taj ice cream was a highlight with its sixth generation owner. Mutton kebabs and chicken tikka were also fantastic.
