I took my aunts for Saree shopping here based on recommendations from friends. On a saturday morning, we had breakfast at Ram-shray and took a kali-peeli to hind mata. Its a one km long street from the dadar station at north to Hindmata flyover at south, mainly for Sarees. There are more than 100 stores, small and big offering wide variety of Sarees. Most of the shops were opening for the day's business as we reached around 10:30 am. There are lots of small stores, which mainly caters to other retailers who buy whole sale. They might not give you the attention you need if you are there for street side bargain shopping. The most famous shops in the street are , BharatKshetra and Artview as per my friends, and we decided to check out both. BharatKshetra is a huge fancy place at the center of the street with 3 shops catering to different segments. They cater mainly to rich affluent class and is likely to be rude with you if they feel that you are not ready to spend around 5-10k. Artview is a smaller but good place with a small front facade, with large collections. There are few more shops that are good. You can distinguish the fancier ones from the ordinary ones by seeing if you can see a person with bags standing in front of the store to keep your footwear against a token.! Overall, a good experience for anyone who wants to spend saree shopping in Mumbai.
