We visited the Temple this week and it was a great experience. The life size statue of Hanuman and the little temple are obviously great and worth the experience. We walked all the way to the doorway office but we’re told it wasn’t working and due maintainence which was a great disappointment - their website didn’t state anything of the sort on the day and really unprofessional of the officials to not update the status of the ripe way there to save everyone time and effort. We ended up taking our own car there and it’s a 30mins drive from main Shimla, thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommend the site.

In my walking tour we walked down the Mall road and through one of the markets - all the expected shops and services are here. Including an antiquarian bookstore Maria Brothers. I found a book - no haggling or photos inside store. A lively road.

We were here this week and it was a revelation - this is where the Shimla agreement talks were good and the place holds so much of history that it’s shameful to see the HP Govt not doing a bette ruin of maintaining it. They’ve a guided tour every hour which we took as is good to give you a grounding but poorly conducted. There’s so much potential
In the place - they’ve picture of all our prominent pre partition leaders and their stories, but it’s shameful how no one has bothered to bring the whole experience to life in a better way. Some simple things they could do is - run a reel/ small film to establish the prominence of the lodge and it’s guests, dust the whole place down to make it shine and not look derelict and decayed, move the scholars out who are supposed to be studying there and therefore access to the top floors of the building isn’t allowed. We’ve brilliant institutions in the country today, where surely these advanced studies scholars can be housed and the present generation visiting the place can be better educated in their visits on the historical importance of this monument. At least get a trained up guided tour guide with audio sets! The sight has brilliant gardens and amazing views, but the outdid of the building looks decayed, ignored and derelict - very shameful on the HP Govt for their poor maintainence standards or just lack of interest in our history.

The grounds here are well maintained and great location for photos. The historic building has many unusual features and an impressive garden and views. No entrance into the building as it is an educational institution. Worth a visit.

The Ridge is a large open space runs above and parallel to The Mall. It is common space used by locals and tourists for relaxing in sun or to enjoy snow fall in winters. It is the place for political rallies and meetings. The buildings in the area are of colonial architecture. Ashiana Restaurants and Juice & Snacks parlors are there for tourists. From right side of The Ridge one can view Lord Hanuman Statue on the Jakhoo Hill and can go to Jakhoo Temple by walking, by local taxis or by newly constructed Rope Way. One can see the beautifully illuminated Mahatma Gandhi Statue, water fountain and Church in the evening. From left side we can go to Lakkar Bazar to but souvenirs and other decorative items. There are several other statues of freedom fighters and politicians including Atal Bihari Vajpai, Indira Gandhi and Lala Lajpat Rai are there. The Ridge celebrates New Year and other festivals in a grand way every year.

It's located at high altitude. From no car zone you have to walk around half km and then steep up hill for 10 minutes. 1845 by a Bengali Brahmin Ram Charan Brahamchari in the vicinity of Rothney Castle on Jakhoo Hill. That's why it resembles the Dakshineswar Kali Temple in Kolkata.[2] It is one of the ancient temples of the city and features a unique Hindu-style architecture along with blue coloured wooden idol of goddess Kali. Later, the British shifted the location of the temple to Bantony Hill

1st point at Mall road is this heritage, Church. Entry inside church generally allowed but sometimes they restrict visitor inside it. You can take picture outside Church.  It is oldest landmark at Shimla and beautiful Church in India.

The place is definitely worth the visit, when you are in Kufri. We went during winter, after snowfall had just hit the place. We went up the mountain portly by car, then rest by jeep (requires 4WD). They took us to a viewing area atop the hill, where there were snow activities, such as ski-ing and tubing. As you leave the top, on your way down, you can stop at the many scenic spots to view the grand mountain side filled with greenery and some snow.

After lunch we visited this still operating theatre. It has a history dating back to the raj and maharajas. It is a small and charming example of exclusive gatherings. A brief visit worthwhile.

It was mesmerising to see 108ft Hanuman idol. The road to the temple is very well built, neat and clean surroundings, a beautiful view of the snow clad mountains from the temple, all these things makes the temple a very beautiful place. A must visit place if you ever go Shimla.

This is a beautiful place in the unplanned, crowded city where you can spend some quality time watching the sunset and wind down. Don’t forget to visit ‘The Brew Estate’ for a meal which is fantastic.

Shimla water catchment wildlife sanctuary is very beautiful place surrounded by a very dense cedar forest. It has 14 Km long track. Which can be either explored by feet or by a bicycle. And bicycle (mountain bike? is the best and fun option. Which can be rented there for 200 rupees only. Since I am a cycling enthusiast, I had so much fun riding there and was also mesmerized by the Beauty and calmness of the forest. I will recommend everyone to try this at least once, who is visiting Shimla.
