It was nice to visit Book Fair in this new layout of Pragati Maidan. Unlike my earlier visits few years ago, it was a great experience this year to see an enormous response with several young readers even during the midweek in a well-organized Fair spanning five halls. In this internet age, it was heartening to look for books on wide range of topics in addition to classics in various stalls of different publishers. In one hall, we had an opportunity to listen to a presentation by a writer in the form of dialogue with a publisher. While sharing his personal experience, the writer revealed how through his persistent efforts for years made him one of the Internationally recognized authors. There was a separate stall for kids with comic books where even older people got attracted. In addition, there were cultural programs to entertain the visitors. There was a common food court outside one of the halls. It's a sprawling complex of buildings, lawns, and gardens, with the Lodhi Gardens next door. The IIC is a hub for many cultural activities, including talks, seminars, book launches, exhibitions and so on. They have all the usual club amenities, such as a very well-stocked library, rooms, restaurant and banqueting facilities. Make sure your card works for this lounge otherwise the staff treats you like beggars if ur card gets declined in swiping . The food was nice though . However the lounge was flooded with people. Try buying 3 -4 beers elsewhere in the airport for less than that at New Delhi terminal 3. A superb value in my opinion for westerners. I travel a lot and always look for value. The Indian food was very good. Although there were times when certain food items got finished and nobody replaced from quite some time.
