I can not praise this company enough. From start to finish, we were very well taken care of. Comfortable car, clever and secure driver, clever guides who knew what they were talking of. This felt a bit like having a local friend, who was helping & taking care of us. We would never have figured out all the local stuff ourselves. Thanks to Annu for excellent company.

Not having toured before, my wife convinced me to come to india for 2 weeks. As part of it, we booked this 5 day tour as it was very well priced with 5* hotels compared to the UK's go-to so called "specialist". There are too many parts to mention but the tour ran seamlessly from start to end, excellent communication via WhatsApp from Shakul, great hotels, very knowledgeable guides and our driver, Prem, was amazing. You are with them for 1100km+ and 5 days so it really helped. Nothing was too much trouble, he was always on time, had cold water, snacks, a smile and a wealth of knowledge. The car was 9 months old and had WiFi too.
The guides all spoke good English, had superb knowledge of the sites, their history and where to get great photos. You do usually end up at 1 shop selling local items, which I have no problem with as we bought a pashmina but generally a few "no thank you" usually gets you back out on the road.
    Overall would definitely book again.

Strongly recommend anyone wishing to experience the Golden Triangle in India to go on this trip if you have the time. Below is my comprehensive review of the experience we had as a family of 4.

    Booking and communication:
Within a day of making the booking, we received a WhatsApp message from Shakul who promptly answered any queries we had, and also ensured customisations were planned where possible. For example, we requested conjoining rooms and advised that we were celebrating our anniversary. This was shared with the relevant hotels and they ensured our needs were met and our anniversary was recognised. We received an anniversary cake at every hotel we stayed at which was nice.

    Driver and vehicle
Our driver was Hari Babu and I cannot complement him enough. He was always prompt (even when we weren’t), and patiently looked after our needs. During the drives, he would talk to us about some of the villages / cities we passed through and gave us further authentic insights which we found interesting. The vehicle was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space for our suitcases and hand luggage.

    Delhi
Dilip Singh hosted our site seeing through Delhi. He was very knowledgeable on all the sites and provided us with interesting historical perspectives whilst also giving us enough time for photos.

    Agra
Vijay Chauhan hosted our time in Agra. Most of this trip revolved around the iconic Taj Mahal, and the Mughal dynasty. Vijay’s detailed knowledge of the history was incredible and was confidently able to answer our questions. Vijay proved really helpful in us securing some great shots whilst at the Taj Mahal. It gets very busy and trying to navigate the crowds and the adhoc queuing etiquette would have been impossible without Vijay. He kindly took some of our key shots. With the heat and the tiredness of the children, Vijay kindly flexed the plans to suit.

The Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Agra was excellent too.

    Ranthanbore
The 6 hour drive from Agra to Ranthambore was split with 2 appropriately located sites. The first stop was the Keoladeo National Park bird sanctuary which was good fun. The kids really enjoyed the telescope to help see some of the wildlife. Our guide Ramesh was very knowledgeable.

Our second stop was Chand Baori Step Well. An amazing construction from the 9th century and our guide Himat was enthusiastic and engaging.

The day of travel ended in Ranthambore and the next day we had our 2 safari outings. We opted for the canter vehicle in the core zones, but sadly we didn’t get to see a tiger. They were elusive during both our outings. There were 2 outings, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Our afternoon outing proved challenging as there was a large group of noisy and boisterous men who made the experience frustrating. The guide struggled to exercise control of them. If I was to do the trip again, I would recommend going for a jeep, provided it can go into the core zone.

The Tigress Hotel felt a little tired and in need of a freshening up. Housekeeping standards were the lowest in this hotel. We only learnt afterwards that housekeeping is only done on request. When we did eventually ask, it took a long time to get it done. The staff for sure at the hotel are very helpful. I would suggest that this hotel does not meet my expectations of 5-star, but not a bad hotel overall.

    Jaipur
Vijay Singh Rajawat hosted our visit to Jaipur. Of all the guides, he was most engaging with the children, helped by his sense of humour. He was also a master with helping us get photographs. He would grab the camera, command people out of the way, and get our shot. The visit centres more on the royal family of Jaipur and the state of Rajasthan. We had a little set back when my son felt ill, but Vijay accommodated and flexed the plans accordingly. By far the most interesting part of the trip was Jantar Mantar. All of us, including the kids found the site and the instruments truly fascinating. I would say the least enjoyable part of the trip was the Monkey Temple - as a site it is particularly filthy and in need of some care.

The hotel in Jaipur was the Hilton and we found that was excellent.

    Overall
The concept of this trip is great and features a good experience of India’s golden triangle. We were amazed by the sites and learnt an incredible amount of history which we all appreciated. The driver was amazing, and the guides were excellent.

Thank you Shakul and team for giving us a wonderful experience of India and the Golden Triangle.

Top Tips for anyone taking this trip:
    1. Carry more small notes for tips.
    2. It gets hot and many of the sites don’t offer much shade. Lots of water and sun cream
    3. We carried toilet roll, wipes and hand wash everywhere as some of the public toilets don’t have the best standards of hygiene.
    4. There is a lot to fit in, and with kids it is advisable to manage the schedule accordingly. Long spells in the sun, late nights and early mornings are not great formulas for keeping kids engaged throughout.
    5. Allergy management - if applicable, communicating allergens can be a challenge. My son has allergies to nuts and sesame, and communicating this to some restaurants was difficult. The controls are not always there and my son did have a reaction.

This was an amazing way to experience the Golden Triangle as a solo traveller on his first visit to India. The guides and driver couldn’t do enough for me and went out of their way to make sure I had a great trip. Upon arrival in Delhi the day before this excursion, I was overwhelmed by the size of the city and its dense population. It is safe to say without Vishwaraj, my guide on that day, I would not have seen many of the sights!

All three guides - one in Delhi, one in Agra and one in Jaipur - were so knowledgeable and helpful throughout. In Agra, Khan went above and beyond to make sure that I got amazing photos at the Taj Mahal. Gopal, who organised the tour, was in contact via WhatsApp to make sure things were going as planned and easily contactable should he be needed for anything.

I booked the 4 star hotel package and both hotels I stayed in were lovely and had swimming pools, which was just what I needed after a long day travelling and exploring!

A special mention to the driver who was an absolute trooper, driving us around cities and between them, all while fasting for Ramadan.

I would highly recommend this tour!

We had a wonderful Golden Triangle Tour of India on Mar 26-31, 2024. What a beautiful country. Our guide Shyam was amazing. His
knowledge of the sites we visited was astounding. He was polite, enthusiastic, courteous and a pleasure to have him lead us on this great adventure.
Our driver Vickey was amazing handling the traffic. Felt completely at ease that he would get us to our destinations safely.
He also was always at the ready with bottled water, hand sanitizer etc. These two gentlemen made our trip thoroughly enjoyable and we would not hesitate to use your company again and would request our same guide and driver. Yes, they were that good!

We have just completed this Abyss Tour of India’s Golden Triangle and can highly recommend, without hesitation anyone considering doing this
Pre departure communication was great. We upgraded to 4* accommodation and were happy with this decision, as returning to the hotels with a swimming pool after the crazy streets of India was a very welcome bonus. Our drivers - esp Mr Narender and Pintu were fabulous - they made us feel safe (just two girls travelling )and they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable with clean air conditioned vehicles . Pick ups and drop offs went like clockwork. Our tour guides in each city were extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic and accommodating .
We were also impressed that the managers (Vajenda and Abid) were checking on our well being frequently during the tour.
The sleeper train from Agra to Varanasi ended up being a 12hr journey due to station delays. Be aware, not the most comfortable night , but an experience nonetheless and it all adds to the travel memories !!
Overall great value for money. To have independently navigated our way around, and covered everything we did in a relatively short space of time would have been an extremely difficult exercise. Thanks Abyss Tours.

We deviated from the excursion our cruise offered, as we wanted to see Jaipur, Delhi and Agra.
We made our reservations a year and a half before we arrived in India. I received a WhatsApp message from Asim right away. (With his picture) .By the time we reached India, our itinerary had changed, then we missed a flight, but Ajay (our driver) met us at the airport.
He stayed with us through the whole trip and was wonderful. Asim checked in with us every day.
The guides we had in each city were fabulous. Manu was from Delhi and showed us all the sites. Rafiq was from Agra and got us up really early to see the Taj Mahal. He knew all the spots to take great pictures of us. Rajesh was our guide in Jaipur. All the guides were outstanding and knew their history and were very informative. Can’t say enough about Ajay who transported us all over India safely.
The hotels we stayed in were five star. They did not disappoint.
This was truly a custom excursion!
