One of the most moving places I have been to and no entry fee. The self guided tour is excellent and what happened on the site is very well depicted. Don’t miss this if you are in Amritsar

I went twice to the Golden Temple. The line to come into the main part was nearly three hours in the afternoon. Early morning the second time I went and I was inside within 40 minutes. Much quieter. Serene and people are all so pleasant. No pushing and everything is calm and lines are well managed. Very clean. Head must be covered and legs too. You must not wear socks or anything on your feet. There are a few levels. I am not Sikh but it was interesting to observe and take it all in. Be respectful and if unsure, just follow the others. You cannot come to Amritsar and not come here. Just a note, there were two lines. One line went from the side and was quicker. I didn't in all honesty see what the difference was in viewing? The 'holy water' is fine to drink as it is filtered.

Only two words to describe this place..PEACEFUL & DIVINE!!
The moment you enter the temple, the ambience makes you realise that you have entered a very sacred place..though very crowded it is very quiet and peaceful..

At first glance i mistook it as an imperial palace or a luxury hotel. But after i read the board i was amazed. A very beautiful architectural monument.

I was told if a couple is unable to hv children they go with full devotion and take the blessings and eat Missi roti with raw onion , so i went with my husband and within few months i was able to conceive. So i went back this summer with my son for getting blessed again and thanking waheguru for this divine blessing . I went to budha shahebji from there lal devi temple and durgiana temple so one full day can be utilised for same. But if u really keep faith ur wil be surely blessed .

A smaller version of the Golden Temple. The temple itself is slightly smaller than the Golden Temple, but the complex here is just the Temple on the lake and a walkway around the perimeter, not the magnificent clock towers and ancillary buildings of the Golden Temple. Very quiet, easy to stroll around and into the Temple itself which is very colourful inside - no photos allowed there.

    Amritsar was amazing!
My 3rd trip and started with going straight to Wagah border for beating the retreat ceremony - that is an experience not to be missed! Starts at 4.15pm in winter and 5.15pm in the summer - recommend going at lest one hour early to get seated comfortably and take it all in!
After that; we checked into this beautiful hotel (Ramada) which is less than a km walk from all the action and golden temple.
We decided to visit the temple that evening itself though everyone had said it would be super crowded being a Sunday but the crowds were moving! Langar has to be had the langar hall is halfway through the parikrama (periphery) Amd then it took us about 50 mins of standing in line for darshan of the inner sanctum. When you go matha teko there, do not forget to climb up two fl Guys and get the full experience!
We also went to Jallianwala bagh the next morning and walked down to Bhravan da Dhaba for THE most amazing food!
Highly recommend their kulchas and baingan bhartha omg the best bhartha under the sun!
When in Amritsar one can also visit the replica of vaishno Devi mandir, and the famous Durgiana temple next to which is also a Hanuman temple.
All in all a beautiful 2 day experience!
Don’t forget to carry back their world famous papads in so many flavors - Alu, pepper, anatdana and even pudina!
There is a lot of shopping too if you’re in the mood to buy Punjabi suits and a lot of phuljhari work.
    Highly recommend this trip!

This Sikh temple is very similar to the Golden Temple, but less crowded. I believe the area is bigger than the Golden Temple, but there are far less people walking around. Similar to the Golden Temple, you will go to the section where they will watch your shoes/socks (for free), wash your hands and walk through a shallow pool to watch your feet. Your head must be covered by cloth (for men and women - hats do not suffice) and then you're free to wander the temple area. We did not go with a guide and it is not nearly as ornate as the Golden Temple; in total we were there about 40 minutes. We did go inside the inner temple as there was no line (we did not do so at the Golden Temple).

Constructed under the chief minister Mr Badal 's time it is over a huge area and a huge sarovar. The Sri Valmiki Temple is imposing, but others are neglected. It is a waste of huge resources.

A very underrated place till you visit the place . We used a battery vehicle to see the fort. the battery vehicle helps to cover the multiple layers of the fort which is not possible with walking. We were lucky to have Mr. Bikram Singh as guide. A passionate young guide. He drove the vehicle as well as explained to us the history of the fort. A 7D show is part of the package. The video quality can be improved. Worth visiting . Keep 1 to 2 hours for a relaxed tour. But use a guide to get the best of the historical fort. Additional charge for using battery vehicle is Rs. 150/200.

It means " Eradicator of Suffering". This Divine Tree is located inside Golden Temple Complex near Amrit Sarovar Sahib. It is more than 400 years old. It is believed that first Sikhy Guru, Guru Nanakji took a nap while reciting Gurbani under this divine tree. The devotees believe if they pay respect to this divine tree, then all their ailments wil be heald.
    Worth visiting...
