Introduction
This was my second ebike tour with blive. Earlier did the divar island tour with a friend. This time my wife and me chose the "Lost city of Old Goa" tour since we were interested in learning of the history, culture and architecture. Our captain was Mr. Sameer just like on the previous tour. He explained the route we would be taking. We were not accompanied by any other guests, so it turned out to be a private tour. Just before we started we were each given a box of sweet delicacies from a traditional Goan bakery along with the complimentary Blive bag and a water bottle.
Equipment
In addition to the existing bikes, they've added few newer model bikes which are easier to use and manoeuvre. My wife chose the Fatboy though. I miss that bike for the sheer speed it reaches for a bicycle. We were given helmets as well; due to the ongoing pandemic masks are to be worn throughout the tour.
The tour
We began the tour from Old Goa Residency. First stop was at the ferry terminal at the arch of old Goa near the Adil Shah palace gate. Here he explained how Goa was found by the Portugese.
P.S.: this tour has lesser riding time and more of the history, so for people wanting to ride more Divar, Churao and South Goa tours would be better.
After the brief introduction we visited various Cathedrals, chapels and other points of historical importance. Then we were taken to the highest point in Old Goa from where we were told that prior to the bubonic plague, old Goa looked just like Rome. Then we went to the cathedral of St. Augustine, this place is finally getting importance by means of renovation to preserve what is remaining.
Following the tour we were extremely joyous of all the information we had gathered. Special praise to Mr. Sameer who kept us engaging and enlightened us with the history we would never have known otherwise.
Following the completion of the tour we actually wanted to do the Panjim tour on the following day, for which Blive was prepared to give us a discount at my request, but due to time constraints we had to drop the plan. We are already looking forward to do all the South Goa tours on our next trip to Goa probably this Monsoon season.
